Sometime after the event with Alex' dad being killed by the Combine, G-Man pulls Gordon for an aside in a frozen time block surrounded by darkness.

WA9 continued towards the city, as her armor peeled back into her body, the organic compounds of Koltanium transferring back into herself. Whatever the scientists did during the experiment, if the subjects needed armor, the Koltanium hardening would suffice.
