Erica sighed. "If you must..." She took off her shirt and turned her back to Tophat.
It revealed that a large portion of the skin on Erica's back was swolen and had a dark purple- blueish hue. Like a bad bruise.

Erica shot forward when Tophat touched the area, nearly falling over. Although Tophat hardly aplied any preasure, it hurt Erica imensely.
"Gaahh! Yes that bloody hurts!" She exclaimed.
Tophat could see that at the centre of the ' bruised' area, there was a patch of skin that looked more bruised then the skin surrounding it. It was a thin, narrow line that run from her upper to lower back. It almost looked like a scar.

Tophat didn't need to search very long to see what was wrong with Erica. A black a black miasma tainted her a large portion of her soul. And at the centre of the taint lay Erica's fragment, her very being.
Further investigations would reveal that the miasma indeed affected her body, or any other vessel that happened to house her soul for that matter. Thus did the black spot in the diamond disappear when Erica's soul was moved.
