Nukes work by firing a neutron source at a uranium ore or vise versa using conventional explosives. If you're firing two uranium slugs against one another at high velocities, that won't do it. Neutrons penetrate the electron shell because they contain no electric charge. That's why they're used to split atomic nuclei. If you fire a bullet at a bullet, the valence electrons of the uranium will just repel one another like a normal collision.

Grace was confused for a bit longer, then got the message. "Oh...I am very sorry. I will try and make this quick." she said as she found another small fracture in one of Makoto's ribs. Once she was confident there were no more hidden injuries, Grace began the healing process. This only served to make Makoto's leg and chest feel hotter than ever, though the rest of her body cooled slightly.

@Shadow: That wouldn't cause a nuclear explosion, but depleted uranium rounds are used as armour-piercing ammunition because it's so dense.

OOC: @Silver. The uranium has to be colliding with a neutron source to initiate nuclear fission. The conventional explosion is used to fire the uranium at high velocities towards the neutron source. Also I edited my last post a little.

@slenn ok, the gun fires the uranium in a way to cause the effect of a nuclear explotion, and it has another setting which uses fision to power a huge laser

Grace finished with Makoto's rib, but decided she might as well take care of the many cuts and bruises that she had. This caused Makoto's whole body to once again be enveloped in an intense heat.
