"I hope you've been practicing if you're thinking of coming along." James said to Erica. "I'll be sure to cover you, but you may well need to defend yourself at some point." As he spoke, AEanna joined them, clad in her dragonscale armour, holding the helmet under one arm.
As TK (The Khajiit) approaches the barrier, the arrow in the orb seems to turn and point to a specific spot. Touching the barrier with the orb produces no visible effect whatsoever, however a sound is produced that is similar to glass being tapped against glass.
James sighed, before taking the Glock from Erica, drawing a new mag from his tac-vest and swapping out the empty one.
"You really need to remember the basic operations of that weapon before you consider getting out on the battlefield. Its no good to you if you can't work it. Here. Show me what you remember of what I taught you." He said as he handed the pistol back.

But that would risk destroying the orb as well, and we need that. Hmmmm..... Yeah, try what Xu is suggesting. Maybe there's a hot spot it can penetrate if we go in the direction it's pointing."
Following the arrow in the orb, the group finds a strange looking stone obelisk, about 3 feet tall, embedded half-way into the barrier. The obelisk seemed completely and utterly alien, made up of grey stone and covered in incomprehensible words, made up of even more incomprehensible letters. Trying to read the words would only lead to having a strange feeling of uneasy dread. The obelisk has a carving of an eye, which has a slot in it just large enough for the orb to fit in where the iris would be.
Makoto followed the group to the obelisk in the barrier. "That's missing an orb, we have an orb... yeah, two plus two."
The Khajiit looks at the obelisk. "Of course, we must place the orb in this indentation."
He gently tosses the orb at Sara then walks off a short distance and crouches down.
"It seems perfectly safe to this one!" he says reassuringly.

"Yeah, that looks about right. Remember, with a bit of practice, you can also tell whether the gun is full or mostly empty by the difference in weight. If its full, it'll be subtly heavier." James went inside the ship and returned a bit later carrying 8 spare mags.
"Here. Carry as many of those as you can."
