The ball stopped rolling just short of Winona. With a couple of hisses of steam, the orb started to slit apart and transform into a fat looking insect with six legs and two mandibles, and a little head. The back shell opened up slightly and a clear dome came into view with Joe inside. "Hey Winona!! Like what I made?" he shouted with a wave. Joe was obviously shrink to fit into the machine.

@Slenn: I'll make blitz later since Joe making intelligence for the clockwork would probably be hard for him right now.

"That's a horrible sounding life. Have any of you tried getting out of it?"

<color=darkgreen>"Oh, my gosh! It's so funny. It's like a giant scarab. Cool!"

OOC: At first I thought it looked like the morph ball from Metroid, or the Bohrok transformation from Bionicle.

"It is about the way you are treating Austine. Did you intentionally injure him?" she asked.

Dio said with a voice thick of dispise.

"I'm not certain that you'll be good at that specifically. But I've spoken to you often enough now to see that you tend to have a very defeatist outlook when it comes to your own abilites. Like I say, I think that's either because you haven't found the right skill set yet, or because you don't practice long enough to improve. You don't have to practice with the gun if you really don't want to, or join us in battle. But keep that in mind at least."

Austin shakes his head at Makoto. "There has been some, but its rare. The only reported case goes to Natalie Cassandra Alessandra, a Vanguard who was honorably discharged after her loved one died in a sacrifice to destroy the Crusaders Super weapon. Team Wet-Work. After that... Most of us believe in following through the mission, there is barely enough time for relationships when they can easily be swept away."

Austin looks at Dio. "Problem is, we aren't just grunts. We are living WMDs. Entire fronts have disappeared from a small three man squad of Vanguards or Wardens. They treat us like nuclear bombs to constantly point and threaten each other."

Winter sighed, and crossed her arms. The zweihander amazing still resting on her shoulders. "He is simply not ready for the darkness that our universe is heading. And if he doesn't realize that, then all the children we rescued, all the soldiers that have accepted us, will all be in vain."

@Slenn: Ya I'm thinking that's how it rolls like the morph ball. But honestly have no idea how that actually works... And I can vaguely remember the Bionicles.

"Ya Thar gave me one of the clockworks to fool around with. So if I make small stuff I can make a whole bunch of things. This can even fly!" Joe said as he pulled a couple of switches and insect looking wings popped out from under the main shell of the scarab. They started fluttering and Joe slowly lifted off the ground.

"A defeatist outlook? Me? Surely not." Erica remarked, her voice thick with sarcasm.
"I lost those clips you gave me when I caught fire, by the way."

 

[Slenn]

OOC: Bionicle was the shiiiiiiiiiit! The Bohrok were made so that they folded in and out like spheres. And they could basically roll on their own (according to some animations of them), much like the morph ball, through their will power or something.

Winona giggled in amazement. She clapped and made a bright smile.

Makoto looked at Dio. "I'm NOL, I know how the military works." She looked at Austin. "Trust me on this one, you gotta branch out and make relationships. You'll just be misrable otherwise. And that woman, I can garuntee that despite her loss, she's happier with a civillian life than you are as some supersoldier tool."

OoC: @Slenn Oh, I LOVED Bionicle! It was so awesome with all those sets and the mythos and-hrk! Nostalgia attack!

A muscle twitched in James jaw, the only visible evidence of his growing anger at Erica's tone of voice. When he spoke again, the characteristic humour in his voice was gone, though he still sounded calm.
"Yeah, that's fine. I've still got enough left to last, especially if it'll only be going through one gun."

@Slenn: Right! I thought so!

"Ya Thar was able to make them actually think and do stuff on their own, but I'm having trouble getting that to work. But at least I can get them moving!" Joe smiled. "Want a ride?"

"Where do you keep all that stuff anyway?" Erica asked James, wishing to divert the attention away from herself.

<color=darkgreen>"Sure thing, Joe!" She moved forward. <color=darkgreen>"Is there enough room?"

OOC: I remember flipping the fuck out when they previewed the Bohrok. The whole universe was this fantastic mix of mysticism, biologic, and machines all wrapped up into one awesome saga.

OoC: Actually, that's a valid question. Laguna had the excuse that all his guns and stuff appeared and disappeared magically, so unless James can do that too, he must be carrying several shit-tons of ammo.

DIo looked at Makoto.
"When in active service for a long time, making friends is a very bad idea. Everyone I signed up together with are dead. After that, I learned to simply do my duty, not more."
OoC: Plenty of people who like Bionicle here it seems. I think I had the full three first series of Toa, and plenty of bad guys to!
