Tophat was getting somewhat annoyed, and levitated up to two meter height.

Well, The Book doesn't really have that kind of power. It just has infinite knowledge, but even that is pretty much inaccessible to just about everyone. Also, I still don't recommend trying to fight him, no matter how many people you have. Just saying.
