Jacques came to one of the doors which slid open in front of him. He tried to peer through the small gap between the wall and the door but could see nothing. He searched around it, but there were no panels to be removed that would allow him to see what moved them. He assumed it was a series of ropes and pulleys, but the gentle whoosh they made sounded totally different to suc a system, and in any case, it didn't explain how the door opened when a person approached, as there were no noticeable floor panels that moved when stepped on. Finally he threw up his hands in exasperation.
"C'est tres ridicule!" He exclaimed. "All these devices, and no reasonable explanation for how they work!"
