"That's better..." Tao said, she couldn't fight the fact of free food any longer, so she took a few bites of the tinned fish.

"Sound...? How does that work?" Terra asked, genuinely intrigued. Mostly because control over sound was a type of magic Terra had never heard of before, but also partially because she wanted to know what Jania was capable of should she ever face her.
"Yeah I knew it. So...why do you wear that silly hoddie anyway?" Joseph asked as he sat in front of Tao.
Jania reached into a pouch, taking out a small crystal. It was clear and fairly unremarkable. She held it up to her mouth and spoke, but no sound came. The crystal gained a slight glow. She held it up, and her voice emenated from the crystal. "Like this."
Those crystals Jania uses(Deimonds), and anyone who spends a significant amount of time near them and has the right training, can take energy of any kind (thermal, sonic, electrical, kinetic, etc), store it as potential energy, and then release it at will. It's kinda like a green lantern ring crossed with a battery.
"To cover Tao's face....that and to keep Tao warm..." She said to Joe, while eating more fish.

"No, no." Jania said. "Honestly, I suspect not even our best scholars really know how they work. I just said that, and recorded it onto the crystal. Making speech play from the crystal like that is actully fairly hard. You need to get it to release the sound just right."

The doll stood there silently.
