The schooner appeared to be a beautifully restored example of a small ship from the golden age of sailing. As they watched Jacques appeared from behind the wheelhouse, ran across the deck and started drawing in a rope on the gunwale. As he did so the mainsail slowly drew up and without the large canvas to catch the wind, the ship slowed and wallowed aimlessly in the waves. He hurried further up to the bow and released a catch on one of the capstans, dropping the anchor with a great splash. With this done, he went to the starboard gunwale, planted a foot on one of the twenty cannons that ran the length of the vessel, and waved to the people on shore.
"Ahoy!" He called jubilantly. "Look what I found!"
