"It's just a city. Not like it's a big deal or anything."
Vicky commented to EMily, clearly not mimicking her enthusiasm.
Code:
"And not even a very good one at that. The buildings are so damn tiny."

<color=brown>"Are you serious? A city not a big deal? In any time and age, they're quite remarkable."

"It's not every day you get to travel back in time 1000 years and see anything on your free time. And plus, there are hardly any cities where I'm from. I and my sisters lived in the countryside in a manor."

Winona smiled back at Vicky.
<color=green>"You gotta learn to appreciate the smallest things in the universe."

[color=006d5b]"Vicky has a point. Cities are really just a bunch of buildings near one another. They're all over the place."[/color] Matilda said.

"It's a congregation of people all working together in one giant spot. All of them rely on strength in numbers to live. It's symbiosis. Some of them are workers, maintaining the roads and electronics. Some of them are soldiers, maintaining the peace. Some of them are firemen, to prevent disasters from fire. Some of them are cooks, providing food. Some of them are scientists and engineers, researching the world around us to give lots of people wisdom. Some of them are politicians, leading the people. It's pretty spectacular for me."

"Yeah well I spent all my life living in a city. So excuse me for not finding a bunch of tiny, primitive buildings to be something to get all excited about."
Vicky replied to the Masons.
Code:
"How'd everyone die in your time that you don't need cities anymore?"
She asked Vicky, seeming particularly intrigued about what she had said.

<color=brown>"I didn't mean any offense. My apologies."

"It's not that everyone's dying. Everyone's spread out now all across the continent of North America in Manors. Thanks to communications and travel technologically progressing to the point of being quick and able to reach nearly everywhere across the globe. Our family, the Masons, are one of many families that live in a Manor. Everyone gets to work hard while still being under the support of numbers. It helps the human spirit. Humans cannot rely on machines alone to live. It's a balance between using our technology, our intellect, and our creativity that allows us to persevere. All of our families have different occupations, much like a miniature city. Our family was devoted to maintenance and science. That's why we grew up the way we did. Other families provided protection. Another family provided food from the farms that were nearby. There are still cities, but they're rarer in my time than this one."

[color=006d5b]"Maybe it's impressive to you Bushies, but when you live in them, cities just seem normal."[/color] Matilda replied.

"So you just finally decided to acknowledge that you're so much more privileged with land."
Vicky paraphrased her sentiment back to EMily.

"Fair enough. I just find beauty in anything really." She said to Matilda.

<color=brown>"Although I'm not sure what you mean by 'you.' If you're referring to humanity, it has nothing to do with territory or taking it. Despite the fact that people in my world can now travel nearly anywhere."

Vicky gave Sara a confused look, not seeming to understand where she was getting her point from at all.

"What are your space stations like? How far away from Earth are they?"

"They're all throughout the galaxy. Most of the ones I go on are run by scientists, PMCs or the Fedoration, but I've been on a few civilian ones too. They're usually just blank metal, but some of the more advanced ones have areas with artificial biospheres."

EMily was quite surprised.

"That's such a fast pace to expand throughout the galaxy. It's such a huge space. I mean space is a really big place. The spaceship we've used to travel throughout the galaxy in our search was one of a kind and the first of its kind made by human hands. The only kind that could jump through lightyears in an instant via self generated warpgates. The farthest station from Earth is 30 lightyears away with roughly a 100 people living in a biodome for astronomical research. How is it that your universe's technology allows you to spread so fast? I do have a hunch though."

"It was the Chozo. They could alter space, travel between dimensions, and create entire ecosystems. Their technology spread throughout the galaxy, some given, some stolen. All the spacefaring races copied as much as they could. The copies are imperfect though. We have FTL travel and instant communication, but not to the degree they did, and bioengineering is still sloppy and morally grey. And there was one time where a planet was found out of range of our drives. The Space Pirates, of all people, were the only ones who had made a way of getting there, some sort of warp gate."

"These Chozo... I remember talking about them with you in our spiel in the hospital in Japan. You mentioned they disappeared is that correct? Help me remember."

<color=green>"And the Pirates? Are they just one species or is it just a collection of species that call themselves the Space Pirates?"

"Yes. One day, they just vanished." Samus seemed kind of hurt by this. "No one knows why exactly, but most think they went to a different dimension... or died out entirely. I don't know what to think." Samus looked at Winona. "They're composed of members from many different races, but they are all warmongers and psychopaths. Kleptomaniacs too. They will steal any technology, treasure or idea they can find, even doors. They had managed to unite under a leader and create a starship with a gate generator onboard."

EMily was completely absorbed.
"This is amazing history. Do you know who was the first person to receive this technology? When was first contact with the Chozo?"

OOC: Is that why the Space Pirates appear to be different from game to game?
