"What is with you and those nudges? Do you just really enjoy touching me?"

"But what of the accounts of murder? Or robbery? Or resisting arrest? Just because we have one point of data doesn't mean that we already know the trend that it makes. Those things are impossible to prove at the moment, because we have no proof. Whether or not they are illegal is not what matters to me. As you pointed out, their illegality is in reference to their own world. So if what she did was right or wrong is a moot point. What matters to me is if they are true. What is legal and what is true are two different things."

"I'd have thought it'd be self-evident." the figure behind the counter said to Gwen, pointing in Braveer's direction. "And I don't see how it being illegal in her world is moot." the person said to EMily.

Victoria headed first into the kitchen to fix Sophia something to eat. She took a couple minutes thinking about what to make Sophia, wanting to make her a well-rounded meal, but also something that wouldn't take terribly long to prepare, as well as taking Sophia's lactose intolerance into consideration. She eventually settled with making a turkey sandwich and slicing an apple into wedges. Once she was finished, she made for Sophia's room and knocked on the door, making sure not to use her metal hand.

If she passed by Eric and Alain, she would make a point of not acknowledging either of them while they continued bickering.

"Tis true! It is the curse of being a great stage actor! The dedication to your art is seen as strange! You'll be ostracized from society!"

 

[Slenn]

<color=purple>"Then Mr. Weird needs to learn to not make assumptions." Gwen turned her torso and gave the most foreboding scowl to Braveer. Her eyebrow was pushing strongly downward on her eyes, maximizing her cross appearance. <color=purple>"We are not going to beat them up unless we have reason to. Got it?"

 

[Slenn]

"Why? Because whatever rules these men put in place don't apply to our world. And our legal rules don't apply to theirs. What is legal and illegal is all relative from place to place. What isn't relative from place to place is the truth through evidence. It is absolute, and it commands the upmost authority." She nodded in confidence.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Come in." Sophia answered back to the door when she heard the knock at the door. As Victoria would enter the room, she'd see Sophia was still sitting at the side of her bed, resting her head on the pillow she was hugging between her arms. "Oh hey, that was pretty quick." She said in a neutral tone, not exactly sounding sad or happy.

Braveer seemed to ignore any body language that he didn't like or agree with. If one were to ask him why, he would probably say that he thought they were just bad at playing their part. "Understood, but what I think is a reason may be different from yours. Just a fair warning."

"Have you heard of the concept of 'extradition'? Because it's the basis of this bounty store. In fact, you've brought people in for crimes committed in different universes. And from what I've heard, not only is the criminal guilty of at least one charge, but you're all guilty of harboring a fugitive." the figure replied, as paper sheets began wrapping themselves around the group members.

Samus looked around as the paper closed in, trying to shrug off some that got too close. "Shouldn't you at least investigate the claim that Sophia's charges are false?" she asked.

Seeing the papers wrap around him, Braveer brought his rapier out from it's sheath. "Ha Ha! So it is a fight you want! Then it is a fight you shall get!" He said quickly flicking his wrist and shouting "You'd make some good kindling!" with that a fireball came out from his hands and hurled it's self towards the paper woman.

"We don't investigate, we just transfer prisoners. That job falls to the law enforcers of the accused's world." the person said, before ducking under the counter to avoid the fireball.

 

[Drakmorg]

"Yeah, well, I didn't want to keep you waiting, so I went with something simple. Hope you don't mind."

Vicky replied to Sophia, handing over the plate of food she had prepared.

 

[Slenn]

The sisters remained unshaken by the appearance of the papers starting to surround them.
"I admit thought that we've never challenged the charges. But for the most part, most of what the charges claimed were true. We did see stolen goods around the cat shapeshifter. And I knew Berethor from long ago. So I knew what ailed them. And you're also assuming that Sophia is a fugitive. And what legal system is this guilty status based off of? I'm only trying to figure out if what they are claiming is true, because I've never seen her do any heinous crimes of the sort." Her voice was starting to intensify. "And that is what I aim to do for crying out loud. Search the truth and nothing more. In fact I didn't even know she was accused of these crimes until a few minutes ago before we came over here."

<color=purple>"Then tell your business it needs some investigators of their own."

"Sophia is a fugitive, because she hasn't handed herself into custody. That's how it works." the figure stated, as the paper rose high enough to prevent the group members from moving their legs. "It's not our job to investigate accusations, it's to return accused criminals to their home universes for trial or punishment. That's what bounty hunting is."

Sophia graciously took the plate from Victoria, looking over it for a moment just to see what it was before looking up to Victoria. "Don't be. It's perfect." Sophia answered back. "You went and made this because you wanted to help me out. I can't really ask for more." She said, taking a small bite out of the sandwich. Although she still wasn't feeling all that great, and that effecting her taste a little, she still tried to convey her appreciation with a small 'mmm'.

Braveer was slashing at the papers around his feet. He then flicked his wrist yet again and made a small hiss to himself. A large swarm of bats were then released from his sleeves and they started attacking the faceless woman.

The bats were also covered in paper, much faster than the others due to their small size. Any paper Braveer managed to cut was quickly replaced by new sheets.
