Alain ran outside as he heard people yelling outside, only to see knights riding flying horses approaching. He smiled at the thought of defeating both of them single handedly, and raised his hammer as he began charging the lightning rune on his hammer. Right before he let the attack loose, however, the archer shot an arrow at one of the ships, startling Alain and causing him to drop the hammer, cancelling the spell. He stood and watched for a few seconds as the fight continued, then panicked again and began to run away towards the city. As he ran, he was unaware that he was still charging the lightning rune, and eventually ended up shocking himself on accident. The shock was about what a taser was capable of, and caused him to conveniently fall down behind a rock, out of view from the others.
Roland was fighting and stuff, but once again his bullets had little effect. He was the only one who noticed Alain falling down, and ran over to check on him. He crouched down to make sure he wasn't going to die or something, and conveniently did this right as the ships were preparing to take off so nobody could see him.
And so Alain and Roland were left behind in Bristol, totally not just because their writer was no longer available to participate in some thread or anything.

Presently, in Bristol
Roland spent most of the time leaning against a tree and silently looking off in the direction that the ships flew off to, while Alain sat on the opposite side of the tree, looking down to the ground in shame from what he had done in the battle.
After several hours or however much time had passed, Alain stood up and walked to face Roland, dreading the conversation but knowing that it had to happen.
"So, um... I kind of messed up back there, didn't I?" Alain said while nervously crossing his arms across his chest.
Roland responded only with a glare at Alain, showing more anger and disapproval than any words could have expressed.
"Right... [sub][sup]right[/sup][/sub]... But they'll come back for us, right? They have to come back for us. I mean, they'll notice that we're missing and realize that we were left behind, and I left my stuff on the ship so that will remind them if they somehow forget. Not that they would forget anyways, because we're all friends and they remember-" Alain said, before he was interrupted as the barrel of Roland's revolver was suddenly pressed against his forehead.
"Your cowardice caused this. You have forgotten the face of your father, Alain. Even though you share the name of one of my old Ka-mates, you do not share anything else. You are hardly worthy of the bullet that would kill you if I pulled this trigger. Either fight in future battles, or stand back while we do so. But if you cause problems like this again due to your cowardice, I will not hesitate to shoot you on sight." Roland threatened, not intending to follow through with this threat but rather trying to scare some sense into Alain. "Now get out of my sight."
Alain did as he was told, retreating back to the other side of the tree, hands shaking from fear that Roland had instilled in him.
Now that Alain was no longer a distraction, Roland thought of possible ways to contact the rest of the group. He was unsure if he was strong enough with The Touch to send a message to the rest of the group, but realized that he had no other option. He concentrated on the simple message of "left behind" and attempted to send it outwards, but it would likely not be strong enough for most of the group to perceive it. However, Shara, with her reading of Weaves and stuff, may be able to hear the message as a faint voice in her head. Or maybe someone would find the rune and carving tool that Alain left behind in the cargo bay of Dave's ship and realize that he was left behind. Or something like that.
