Kenna gave Winona a small smile. "I'm self taught. Honestly most of what I learned was just from watching UFC, WWE and Bruce Lee movies, then going down to the gym and figuring out what's useful. You ever wanna spar sometime, just say." Kenna was silent for a moment, her smile dropping. "Don't think they'll let a werewolf join, would they?"

 

[Slenn]

Winona blinked twice and delivered a guilty smile. <color=green>"I uh... didn't know you were a werewolf. Wouldn't you be fine as long as their matches happened during the day? Or possibly not during a full moon?" She said, trying to install some humor into the conversation.

<color=brown>"Yes, there are spas where we're from, Sophia. Spas are not just for vanity. They help rejuvenate you through bath salts, aroma therapy, meditation, and biofeedback. At least the ones I've been to do that."

"I thought I had told everyone. My bad." Kenna breathed, shifting. Her arms grew coarse fur, her nails lengthened into claws, her teeth sharpened, her pupils shrunk, and her hair lengthened and gained streaks of grey. "I can control it, at least a bit. I haven't actually experienced a full moon with this yet..."

As Sophia continued to listen to the conversation, the mention of 'werewolf' got a response out of Sophia. She had been smelling a different smell off of Kenna already, but didn't want to ask her flatly with so many people around. Perhaps that had something to do with it, but for her the word didn't invoke the same image that Winona was thinking.

Sara responding to Sophia however brought her back from her confused expression as she pondered what a 'werewolf' might mean. "Really?" Sophia answered back, showing her surprise in the matter. "They had some in some of the towns near the college, but I never really bothered going to one. I always thought it was just for doing people's nails and putting vegetable stuff on their faces. Why bother paying an arm and a leg just to do something you could do yours-?" Sophia stated her case, showing her lack of knowledge on the subject. She however cut herself short as Kenna changed partially into the wolf form, having Sophia stop herself as she wasn't expecting to see such a change happen. "Uh..." She murmured, at a loss for words as to what to say.

<color=green>"Hmmm... I didn't know werewolves had residual aspects like that. Then again, I've never seen one."

"I'm not really sure how this shit works either." Kenna said, shifting back to human.

Given the elephant in the room still hadn't been solve for Sophia, she went against her normal judgement on an instance like this and raised her hand to bring attention to herself. "Um... What's a werewolf?" Sophia asked, feeling like she was missing a piece of the jigsaw in this conversation apparently everyone else had but her. "Some sort of shapeshifter that smells a bit like a wolf beastkin?" Sophia asked innocently.

Kenna looked at Sophia. "It's a person that can turn them self into a wolf, or something like a wolf."

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"The word 'werewolf' means 'man-wolf'. In the usual tradition, they transform during a full moon."

 

[Zepherus14]

"Right." Sophia answered back, scratching the back of her head with her right hand. "Why would the moon have to do with anything though?" Sophia asked, still unsure about the whole thing.

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"That's just how the legends go. I haven't looked that much into it." Sara shrugged.

"You seem to know more about it than I at least." Sophia answered Sara back, Sophia finally finishing her chicken, glancing down at Matilda's portion she was still munching on. Although she felt like asking more on the subject, Sophia wasn't blind to the fact Kenna wasn't overly thrilled about her werewolfism, and thus Sophia decided to steer off that topic for the moment. "So you were saying about the spa stuff or whatever Sara? You and your sisters go often?" Sophia asked, trying to get back on track.

<color=brown>"When we have the time, yes. Although we pretty much can find relaxation wherever we go on Earth. That's not to say that there's a vacation spot everywhere. We just tend to enjoy whatever's there: The sights, the sounds, the food, the smells, the people or lack thereof... we cannot afford to be stressed."

"I guess that's reasonable, I was mostly asking because you two seemed to know a lot about it. With you guys being from Earth initially, I thought you might know more." Sophia related her position. "Although the science stuff would have taken priority there, so that makes sense. Is that why you don't want to be stressed then?" Sophia inferred from Sara's mention of them not being able to afford being stressed.

Matilda thanked Sophia and began eating the chicken, listening to the others talk. When Sophia asked what the moon has to do with werewolves, Matilda stopped eating. [color=006d5b]"Well, where I'm from, I think it's because the moon is involved in ritual magic. The spell to create a werewolf curse, and the spell to undo it, are both done under the full moon. Maybe it's the same thing where Kenna's from."[/color] she replied, sounding a little unsure of herself as she was recalling her limited knowledge from memory.

"A curse?" Sophia repeated quietly, looking back over to Kenna, her eyes looking sympathetic to the idea this might be something like that. "So, what were you thinking of doing today? You think we should do that shooting training thing you were talking about, or do you have something else in mind."

Kenna was quiet, not wanting to bring the werewolf subject up again. After a while, she looked at Sophia. "If you don't mind me asking, what's with the..." She gestured to Sophia's ears.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Huh?" Sophia murmured as she looked away from Matilda to see what Kenna was talking about, the white patches of her mask situated above her eyes moving up like she'd raised her eyebrows. She blinked a moment before tilting her head up as to look to see what Kenna was pointing to, her mouth ajar slightly. After realizing what Kenna was asking about, Sophia's head leveled off again as she returned her gaze back to Kenna, scratching one of her ears. "Oh, you mean these? Well they're my ears obviously, what did you think they were?" Sophia chuckled, somewhat amused by Kenna's question.

"So you're a... Ferret person?" Kenna asked.

"Ferret Beastkin actually, but pretty much." Sophia corrected, raising her finger in a 'hold on' gesture. "The ears, mask and tail are all real if that's what you were wondering. You don't have a species like mine where you're from either?" Sophia asked, a bit curious.
