You need to find cover from which you can shoot them with arrows without being exposed. Of course, hitting a flying dragon with an arrow is very difficult as well, it takes patience. When you do bring them down, you must deliver as much damage as possible. Using knives to tear their wings apart, or a heavy battleaxe or warhammer to smash their skull in. They are of course, very dangerous on the ground too. I've seen dragons deal horrific damage with their jaws. Fortunately, Ysgramor is strong enough to withstand them quite nicely." He patted the rim of the shield in his satchel. "To date I have slain... about 35, I believe."
As Dromaeus spoke, he listened to Eragon's story as well.
