At the motion of Joel, Eragon appeared behind him with his sword at his throat. "He made a poor decision as do well all from time to time...the real crime would be to not have him redeem himself." Eragon didn't like his odds in case of a fight, he mentally added somemore wards and renewed some that had been depleted. Close as a fight may be Eragon had only a little energy in the saphire but Aren was off limits for now. If only he had Saphira with him, she was always getting him out of situations like this.

Artie stared. "What? The crime here is murder. And attempted kidnapping! Not 'not redeeming himself'! Why don't you put him in front of a judge and say 'I know he killed them, but they attacked him and he just made a bad decision, and only he and I know that because I read his mind.' Do you know what will happen? You'll be dismissed and he'll be executed, or at least imprisoned."

Eragon lowered his blade, he was the one being foolish. The intentions don't forgive the actions. Alistair was clearly a murderer, if a misguided one and Eragon had leapt blindly to his defense for the sake of 'fair' justice. "I withdraw my objection." He said sheathing his sword. Sitting down with his head in his hands he said "Forgive me I was...not myself." He missed Saphira now more than ever and a single teat dropped from his eye to land on the floor. He rubbed his face before looking up, after this business was resolved he would have his answers from Joel.

Meanwhile, the Wayward Vagabond is amazed by the large amounts of TAB in the vending machine.

Sofia ran up to joel and cut the tentacle down that was holding Alastair. "NO, NO DEATH!" She shouted. "He didnt do anything! The students were assassains and the driver, well my dad saw the students being kidnapped and being put in the truck. It was a mistake we all would make!" Sofia was screaming now. She knew her dad was inocent.

OOC: tried my best but to Eragon Alistair is a person who has done something wrong and should be punished, the others can't take what Eragon said about reading his mind as a valid point. Instead of OOCing "I don't want to die" actaully argue your case in RP or come up with way to get out of it...your character hasn't once professed his reasoning for his actions you've just complained in OOC

At the sight of Joel attacking a child Eragon sprung into action. "Stay your blade! You can't possibly think of killing someone in front of their own daughter?" Eragon said half in shock. This time he drew his bow from its quiver and knocked a white fletched arrow. He aimed at Joel saying "Release the girl."

Alastair said before picking Sofia up and running."Okay look Artie the driver was a personal thing, He followed me through the portal i travelled through. He actually is a warlock. Im not bad i saved us and the students from being burnt alive!"

Joel glided back into the room. "Something I said get to you?"
"Wait, if he was going to burn the school down, why was he putting them on a truck, and why was he about to leave? And why was he in a Calley Corp uniform?"

"He followed me, He was a shaman in my world and got worse now he is a warlock he sought out dangerous chemicals to end my village i can only assum he found what he was looking for in Calley Corps labs." He pause before starting again. "He was a failure back in the village, Always asking for help he probaly thought the students could help." He stopped. "So there you alright now!"

At the sudden change of pace in the standoff Eragon kept his bow trained on Joel. "Nobody has to die...for one I'm tired after beating Jack Noir off but I think I can find a little energy to defeat another wolf today." Keeping the bow perfectly still he said "Don't forget I have business with the both of you also."

The Merc looked at Eragon, then Joel, then Artie, and finally Sofia and Alastair.
The girl... her mother died. Joel knows something about it.
But the father won't talk.
So... we need Joel alive?
I'm more shocked at Julia being Joel.
The Merc rose. "The wolf lives. So does the man and the girl. Fire that bow, and I'll send you to hell." He said. His voice subtly changed. "Girl, how did your mother die?"

Eragon released the tension of the bow, holding it at a ready position ready to be drawn in an instant. "You threaten me Merc...remember our duel and the warning I gave." He said coldly. The Merc was too unpredictable sooner or later Eragon would have to tear his secrets from his mind if he would not willingly divulge them.

Julia slammed her head into the wall as Artie re-entered.
"WHO ARE YOU!" he yelled.
"The stickman is STILL TALKING!" Joel bellowed, breaking his disguise.
Artie turned and saw Alastair trip Joel. "You... I'm going to kill you."

OOC: Actually, that wouldn't work. I'm assuming that Eragon's mind reading is magic and Mat is completely resistant to any magic used on him directly. I'llget to that in a moment.
