Mat tried to find the other members of the party, but he quickly got distracted once more with the intricacies of the ship. It was so sophisticated, so much more powerful than anything from where he had come from. He would need to try to get Preginald's emerald now, see if Shepard would part with the ship for that gem.
Eventually, however, Mat did wander toward the command center of the ship. Several of the crew looked up at him, but most paid him no mind. "Can I help you?" One of them asked.
Mat studied the soldier for a moment, "Yes, I'm looking for the group I came aboard with. Do you know where they are?"
"Yes sir. They departed some time ago onto the planet's surface in search of some library. We've been tracking their progress."
Great, that was one thing out of the way. "How do I join them?" Mat asked.
The soldier thought about it for a moment. "Well, we do have a light surface explorer. It's small and fast, but very poorly armored. It's in the cargo bay. If you really want to join them, put on a space suit, get to the explorer and we can set you down nearby."
"Thanks." Mat said, dashing back to the cargo bay. Within a few minutes he was uncomfortably adjusting the suit one of the other crewmen had given him. 'This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever worn.' He thought, before jumping into the explorer. Another of the crew had explained the basics of how to operate the machine, but learning to operate it and actually operating it, Mat knew, would be two different fields altogether. "Alright, we're ready to drop you, good luck." Came the call over the intercom. The cargo bay doors opened and Mat landed on the moon silently and intact. Nearby, there seemed to be some sort of green, plant-structure, like something an Ogier would live in. He worked the machine for a moment, before getting it to move, and set off toward it.
