Ness shakes her head a bit, smiling as well. "No, no, thank you for the explanation. It seems the places we come from play by different rules when it comes to the use of magic. I'd like to see one of these spell-stones once we've got ourselves settled somewhere, if you wouldn't mind."

She looks over a Tiberius firing the gun and raises an eyebrow. "They seem highly distrusting of anything mechanical in this nation... [small] This may not bode well for me. [/small]"

"Thank you very much, now if I may." She said as she quickly requested for the food from the cooks, thanking them whole heartily for their efforts.

She then sat down on one of the more empty tables, and didn't wait for Savranth before digging in.

Echo vaguely heard some of the other people talking about magic and wished she could join in the conversation, but she just resigned herself to listening intently to what they were saying.

"True. But this place isn't familiar to me in the slightest. Mages? Magic? Metallic soldiers that are machines? I've never seen that in the 20 years as a Maintainer. The machines that we use in my home are electrical and steam powered, but nothing to the extent of walking machines with mechanical hands."

"Why this is Xiphatia, sir. Why do you ask?" The raccoon-like secretary told Loki rather perplexed.

Tiberius's arm didn't flinch, despite the recoil. "This is Xiphatia..." Tiberius said before he continued firing the gun several more times. He fired it with the speed one would expect of a fully automatic gun, despite the fact that it was not, until it was out of shells.
"I must say I was half expecting this gun to be more powerful..."

He turned to the group with superhuman speed, waving his hand as ice formed from the water in the air and surrounded them as spikes. "Now tell me what people from the nation of Alnilam are doing here? You have no business in Xiphtatia." Flames surrounded the group and Tiberius, even as a wind began to blow all around them.

"Tell me your intentions and I promise no harm will befall you. You should know a General of Xiphatia is among the strongest mages in the world. And I am no exception."

Savranth sat with the Young Woman. "I didn't get your name..." He said, putting the pistol on the table.
He looked back out towards the door, seeing the telltale signs of high level fire magic. "Looks like the General is interrogating them. I hope they don't try anything stupid, for their sake. He won't harm them as long as they answer him. Otherwise... Well, he is among the World's Strongest. I heard he defeated entire battalions by himself in the War."

Noel eyed the ice spikes, a sliver of a smile appeared for a nanosecond before resume her neutral face. "Beatrice" grabbed the hilt of her sword. Keeping her voice completely neutral, Noel said.

"This nation of Alnilam... That is not where we are from. Both of us are not of this world. If anything, we only wish to leave this planet without meddling too much in any of these affairs that you are having with this opposing nation."

"I know not what you speak of general. All I know is that the great hunt has been called again, and that there is an imbalance in this world. I am here to help correct the imbalance, whatever the imbalance may be. I assume my allies are here to do the same. I know not how I arrived on this world, or what I am expected to do here, but I believe the spirit of the hunt has guided us to you to help us learn of our path." Lyra said, slowly reaching down to tap one of the skulls hanging from her belt, like a nervous tic.

I suppose there's no room for any excuses or made up stories.

"I-I am not sure how they got here. We followed a man in blue and found some mechanical soldiers who then pulled guns on us." He paused. "I am from D'ni. And I'm Dal'Sheed, a Maintainer. My job is to see how stable worlds are and document them for my civilization. As a Maintainer, I want to ensure that the conflict here is settled so that the world won't collapse."

Ness turns around and looks at the spikes, her hand instinctively reaching into her pocket. She didn't pull out her device just yet, as she spoke to the General. "I'm not from this world, General. Hearing from the others in the group, neither are they. I'm not sure why they're here, but I came to this dimension to take a break from a war I've been fighting in for a long while. We don't mean you any harm or anything of that like."

After regaining her composure, Jessica replied to Ness, "Certainly. I don't mind showing you something from my universe." She dropped her voice down low before continuing, [small]"So long as you don't talk too openly about it, okay? If these lot are distrustful of mechanical things, what I could show you just might raise a few flags, and I'd rather not take the risk of them knowing about it."[/small]

Suddenly seeing herself surrounded by ice and fire, Jessica began to panic again. No no no no, what do I do?! She frantically reformed the magical glyphs around her head once again.
Whatever you do, do not run. Not unless you absolutely have to. Running away in this situation will only make you look guilty.
Okay, okay...okay Jessica thought as she took several deep breaths, trying to calm herself down.
"I-I don't even know about these two nations you're talking a-about sir. I'm just here to do r-research on the Dimensional Anomaly a-affecting this place." She replied to Tiberius, her obvious nervousness showing through her occasional stuttering.

Echo screamed again as she moved away from the spikes and started shivering in fear again.

"Why?" Loki began, then stopped tapping the scepter against the desk and look over his shoulder upon hearing the sounds of fire burning and strong winds blowing. Seeing that both these things, as well as shards of ice hovering in the air, were surrounding the group that had stayed with Tiberius, Loki formed a small grin before asuming a neutral expression and looking back to the secretary. I knew I was wise to not linger there. Regardless, I had best take precautions so that I shall not end up facing what they do now after all. Looking at the secretary, Loki created an astral projection of himself on the exact spot where he was currently standing, making it imposible that it had been created. When done, the real Loki turn invisible in an instant and stepped aside, leaving the projction. Now then... "I ask, for I have never heard of such a place, even with my extensive knowledge of the Nine Realms. I came here by means I know not how." he explained. As he spoke the projection seemed to do the talking rather then Loki himself, even Loki's voice came from the projection, making it imposible to know the real Loki was standing elsewhere without having some manner of sixth sense. "You answered only one of my questions, however. So, "Xiphatia", is that the name of this realm in its entirety, or the name of this land in paticular?"

OOC: Also, I think D'ni's steam power is along the lines of modern day power stations. And I believe it's geothermal. They need to have enough power to compress stone into a condensed material. That's my guess.

The shards of ice turn to water and fall to the ground with a splash. The fire dies down and the winds ease. "I knew that none of you were from the nation of Alnilam. Because there is no such nation. Alnilam is the name of this world. If you were from here, you would know that. I suspected you were not when I saw your appearances. And the fact that I can use this gun confirms that." Tiberius says as he holds up and looks at the gun, then walks over and hands it to Beatrix. "Please forgive MY rudeness."

He steps back and continues. "You see a mage of Xiphatian can not use the technology of Legaia, our neighbor to the South. If they did it would explode. If that had happened, you all and I would have died just now. However, since that didn't happen, I can safely assume you are not from our world. Forgive the deception, but I had heard that Volarian and my son had gone off looking for spies. I had to be sure."

"Well Sasha, this is Xiphatian territory. South of here is the nation of Legaia, our enemy, a nation of cursed technology." Savranth explains.

"Xiphatia is the name of this nation sure. South of here is the nation of Legaia. And to the West lie the Wild Lands. What are you talking about with the Nine Realms? I'm afraid I don't understand." The secretary said to Loki.
