Cynane gazed up at the mountain from Stripe's back, regarding it with the mild interest of a person who spent much of her time in them. Despite the fact that the clothing she was wearing gave her relatively little cover, she showed no signs of being cold, and indeed seemed quite comfortable in the temperature. Spurring the Aptonoth on, they began the ascent of the steep trail with the others.
"If anyone is having trouble with the climb, feel free to jump up on the cart for a bit." She called out to the group.

The Rookie glanced sideways at John, and nods with gratitude to him. His hand edged closer to the pistol at his hip, by just a little bit.

"We'll see." responded Rita to Savranth
Looking back to Dal'Sheed Rita said "Well I don't need your concern" looking slightly embarrassed. Rita approached the guard and waited for him to finish talking to The Rookie

Damn. And here I was hoping that she would be an easy friend to make. He made a slightly exasperated sigh as she walked away. "I-I'm sorry." He said, not needing to hear a response from Rita.

Tao and Echo both hop in the cart.

The guard raise his hand, forming an all but invisible shield in front of him, as he steps to his side.
"No password, no entry. As far as people you don't want to fuck with go, you don't want to force your way into this school. Or you'll find yourself dealing with many of the greatest mages in this country. Password, or leave. We don't let people in, just because they ask nicely." The guard was becoming agitated as he placed a hand on a lever to raise the alarm should anyone try anything funny.

"Well, this seems to be bad timing..." Savranth commented, looking at the scene before them.

Saya just continued to follow behind the group, occasionally making small notes about them.

john suddenly starts laughing "*greatest mages in this country*!?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! oh ***** please i could end your *best mages* with a mere flick of my wrist" he said still laughing

john nods back to the Rookie as he also inches his hand closer a little to his revolver

Sable says to Savranth alone (As in sort of like telepathy)"How far are you willing to go to get in there? I do not mean lethal force, but would you be willing to use some sort of force?"

 

[Slenn]

Dalsheed facepalmed at John's outburst. Crap, don't boast like that.

"Don't aggravate them! We'll tell the password fair and square!"

OoC: @David, you don't need to quote people, just make it so we know who you're talking to (Such as when you said "John nods back to the Rookie" that works fine)

The Rookie glanced behind him, then nodded to the guard. He walked off to the side, around the bend of the wall. There, he took off his rucksack and began fiddling with what seemed like a length of rope.

"Is there some kind of problem here?" Cynane asked as she rode up behind Savranth and those at the head of the group with Echo and Tao in tow.

 

[Captain Anon]

"fine go ahead, tell him the password I've had my fun" he said to Dal'sheed while still giggling a little

 

[Slenn]

"Well, Rita's the only one who might know it. Made a deal with a small girl named Mint back at the inn." He said in a tone to try and not gather any attention.

 

[Saltyk]

Savranth looked back to Sable. "Well, considering that all the teachers are Masters in at least one discipline, about as far as the front door."

The guard watched the Rookie. "If you think to scale the wall, don't bother. I'll raise the alarm before you reach the top..." He then looked to John and said. "Says a fool. Keep talking and we'll see how far your boast gets you while you're thrown off this mountain. Actually, a Xiphatian military officer is here. And he's a real asshole. He'll probably roast you alive."

Another officer? Why is he here?

He looked to the others. "If you're with these idiots either take them away or prepare to die. It matters not to me." The guard said, never dropping his shield.

"You gonna move?" said Rita to the Rookie

Sable portals away and re-portals in behind the guard, knocking him out with the pommel of his sword

Hearing the threat, Cynane unslung her Lullaby spear from her back and flipped it around so that the fan blade was pointed down. If the guard chose poorly, she could throw it overhand like a javelin.
"Savranth? Is this going to be a problem?" She repeated.
