"Digging up the past, are you?" Tiberius said with a rather pensive expression. "Okay, what do you want to know?"

"Mostly to prevent any sort of complications and to allow the people to live in the means that there are accustomed to. As well as prevent the unfortunate possibilities that can happen. And, of course allow for areas where people can meet." The ash ghost explained. "No one said people were close. In two years, there have only been a handful of children born to such couples. But that's better than nothing and may help lead us to a society where our countries no longer have so many conflicts."

"I'd prefer to think of it as something a little more respectful than that." Jessica replied to Tiberius. "Anyway, I'd like to ask how much of April 12, 8957 AE XX you remember." She glanced back over at everyone that had followed her and said, "Feel free to not let me have to do all the talking if you lot want to ask anything."

@Dirty: Well, Dot did have Rex go around and gather everyone in Lakewest together off-screen. You could just claim Hellosh is with everyone at the base because of that.

@Drak: "...It just happens..."

Ness nods a bit. "I see... Glad to hear some progress was made in that regard." Maybe I can find a registry somewhere in this city... "One last question: Was there anyone in particular who was extremely against this town being founded? ...I'm just curious who would oppose this sort of noble endeavor."

 

[Saltyk]

Tiberius sighs. "All I know is that we woke to news of an attack. I was a fairly low ranked officer back then and reported for duty, so did my wife, Idula. We left Savranth, in the care of a neighbor. We lived near the cities outskirts far from where the attack seemed to be focused. I was informed that the Legaians had attacked."

"Realizing, the danger, I went to pick up Savranth and met Idula there. We each accused the other of knowing of the attack and nearly came to blows before we realized that both of us had heard the same thing. That the other country had attacked us. Both of us had no reason to doubt our superiors, or think that they would hide anything from us."

"Seeing that our only response was to return to how things were before, we decided that Savranth would go with his mother, as he didn't seem to display any ability to use magic. But before we made that final, we realized he had the ability to use magic, so I took him to raise on my own as a mage."

[hr]

"No. No one that I know of. While there may have been small groups here and there, they were a minority. Hate groups and the like. Religious zealots, maybe." The ash ghost replies, it's ashen complexion and subtle light glowing amongst the ruins.

OoC: @Dirty: Just say Hellosh is with the others. We tried to bring everyone along. Because he wouldn't just be allowed freely on the base.

Ness nods toward the ghost before turning to go back to her car. "Thank you for your time, sir. It was much appreciated." Hate groups... and religious zealots...

As she continues on, something clicks. Didn't Savranth say that gods don't exist... This seems to be a universal truth through out both nations, or at least how people see it... so why would a cult form with so many people against it...? She recalls the altar from the beginning of the journey and thinks as she lies down in the back seat, Tao sleeping near Echo and Holly. Something doesn't add up... I need to check that altar out at some point... It may hold answers to this...

She lets out one final yawn before falling asleep.

"I see." Jessica said as she nodded and listened to Tiberius. "Can you tell me what you were told about the attack? Like, where the first one occurred in the city, perhaps? Or any descriptions of the weapon that was used? Anything like that?" She asked.

@Dirty: Who can actually respond? Pretty much just mine and Salty's characters.

"It happened in the middle of the night. After 50 years of peace niether side was actually taking concerns of conflict that seriously. And as far as I know... No one saw the first assault and survived. not even recording devices of any make. Though the attack seemed to be targeting certain areas. Xiphatian residential areas were heavily hit. Xiphatian as well as mixed housing. From what Idula told me, it seems she had much the same report." Tiberius explained.

OoC: @Dirty: Top floor of the main building. And he wouldn't be allowed on the base so easily. They wouldn't allow a person to just walk on in during a time of war...
Just say he came with the group. Otherwise it seems like they don't take security seriously.

OoC: @Drak Okay. Anyhow, who is at the base anyway?

Hellosh is totally at the base with the others, because of off-screen shenanigans. He randomly walks around.

@Salty I think you missed my post earlier.

No, I didn't. But I addressed you about that earlier. And yes, I feel the same. It makes it sound like they don't take security seriously. And him just nonchalantly walking around and into the General's office, REALLY makes it seem like that. Coupled with his personality which I'm sure they would have some idea about... security concerns and war.

I'd say it's more than a little suspicious that there's no record of who was behind the first attack. Jessica thought to herself as she nodded along while listening to Tiberius. "Why were the Legaians even suspicious about Xiphatia being behind the attack if they seemed to have taken the most losses from it?"

 

[Saltyk]

"Because they claimed to have taken losses in the initial attack, and believed that Xiphatian claims were either lies or a result of the battle that followed. Both nations believe that the other was behind it and have, at least some evidence to support that claim." Tiberius explained.

OoC: @Dirty: yes, I know. Rex was with them. Still is. Hence why it makes sense for Hellosh to be there with them ALREADY. And it wasn't really offscreen. Rex followed them.

@Dirty: I meant Rex gathered everyone together off-screen, and then brought them to the base. Not that everyone at the base was somewhere else other than where things were happening.
And it's the General's office.

"Uh huh. One last question. When did the 'Ash Ghosts' that I've read about first show up?" Jessica asked.

 

[Saltyk]

"That's a good question. No one is too sure. But they were first noticed the following day. They seem to believe that it is April 12th, though. Most likely because they died in the middle of the night." Tiberius replied.

"I see. Thank you for you time General. I'm sure you're a busy man, so I appreciate you taking this time to help sate my curiosity." Jessica said with an appreciative nod. "I'll let you get back to your duties now. Goodbye." She added as she began walking out of the office.

@Dirty: I'm assuming it would be in the Main Building. I wasn't directly told, but it seems to make the most sense.

"You can show yourselves out. I'm sure you can find space in the Barracks, just don't cause any trouble." Tiberius told them as they left.

"Well... I doubt that told you very much, but it's something, right?" Savranth said as they left. He soon led the way to the barracks to find a place to sleep.

OoC: Gotta go to bed. Work in the morning and all that jazz.
@Dirty: Yes. The main building.

"Yes indeed. I certainly got something out of that." Hopefully the others at the ruins may have turned up something while I was gone. If not, I guess I'll just have to look into it more myself. Jessica replied to Savranth as he went off. She followed along to the barracks, despite not having any intention of sleeping there for the night.

Jessica had another portal conjured up for her, at which point she stepped through it and disappeared.
