In almost 200 years of war among the stars however, I do not think I have met an alien that granted powers of authority to their human subjects, and certainly none that would elevate a human to a position of power over even the lowest of their own kind. Fascinating..." He decided to change the topic slightly, and see whether the girl knew anything of the Great Ocean.
"But I cannot help notice, twice now, you have used the word 'daemon'. Tell me, what do you know of daemons?"

"Some called for war initially, there was a cue attempt on my father. I was only young, I only remember seeing The Castellan face down the Knights of the would be userpers." he hummed before beaming proudly as he hummed "Nobody get past the Castellan, Scath, human or otherwise." he realised he'd been a bit distant and sudden. He hadn't wanted to dwell on Pales and so wanted to change the subject, if a bit unsubtlely.

Three minutes later, a portal opened in the throne room, near the relay pylon. With hands clasped behind his back, the rep looked those present there over, then stepped into the throne room, and approached Blue. "Your people can step through, our engineer is waiting for them. I'll take the documents."

"So the idea is to get this XPOL agent to come to this mage, is that right?" Heshnin asked, tapping on the edge of the table at which she stood.

Candace gave Nina an acknowledging nod, then looked to Dala. "Do you have a set place in mind?"

The mages did step through, while one of them handed over two scrolls to the representative. "We go there to study new ideas, so don't make this a one-way deal." he said. He was bearded and quite old.

"I hope we can benefit from each other."

"Yes, it is. She claims she knows her, and might have enough reason to manage this to happen.
... Is there something you could assist with? Because if not, we would just keep you out of this one."

The more mindful one is of it, the longer he can put off meeting that foe. Or better yet, he can ensure that the meeting is under circumstances that ill-favour the other. Perhaps your castellan knew this." Or perhaps he had simply not yet faced down an Astartes speartip...

Ahriman considered what Zev told him carefully, stroking an armoured thumb along the grip of his hequa staff as he did so.
"And do you know where these daemons come from?"

It's similar in temperature to here - well, not only winter, but all seasons. It has a lot of magic, too, though, and a lot of magic artifacts. Should not be too hard to find them.

"Of course Castellans die but none get past them."
He didn't want to say that, it was a sobering thought to think of the Castellan dying. He looked up to the Royal protector and had always wished to be one himself. He wasn't a female though for Castellans were always female. "you seem interested in demons, almost obsessively. We have no concept of what humans call demons."

Ahriman chuckled briefly at the inquisitive Scath. Despite it's bestial and alien appearance, the creature had a childlike curiosity that Ahriman could not help but like.

"In truth, I have only very recently come to properly understand such things. Daemons are denizens of the Great Ocean, or the Warp. A dimension of consciousness and emotion that underlies the physical realm... the name invokes an image of tranquillity, but many oceans have their monsters. We always knew that this realm was home to strange and vile extradimensional predators, but we have discovered it to be so much more... it is a place where every thought and feeling of every living being can take a living form. Every scrap of wrath, of lust or ambition, can become a malevolent, sentient creature that strives to enter our own realm, and bring Chaos with it." He nodded at Zev. "Does this sound familiar?" And to Faa; "It is not the daemons that interest me however, but the Great Ocean itself. IT is a place of unfathomable energies and power. Living beings, some of them anyway, can tap into it, and use it as an extension of their will. If one were to study the Warp and the ways in which it can be bent to one's purpose... the possibilities are limitless. It is this knowledge of the Warp that holds my interest, as much as the daemons that reside there."

"Do not be quick to judge me a liar, Zevrisya. Many of the Thousand Sons Legion could travel in the Warp via what we call our Body of Light. If you have some psychic potential, then I can take you with me so that you might see the Warp with your own eyes if you wish."
