"Well, we did kinda start out with the bioengineering thing. But I apologize. It's easy for me to get sidetracked, because I find it a fascinating subject. I hope you understand.

In any case, I do have a circle of friends back at home. We attend sprinting runs every early morning. My going through the portal happened during winter break for our school. But I'm not quite so certain about the passage of time, because the portal to my world closed. And since the portal people said I have to wait until my universe is found I could probably punch in the time I left and come back like nothing happened." She shrugged.

"But during break, I usually exercise with my friends. This coming summer will be the first summer in which I can use my nuclear fusion to help out people. Typically a Fenrir's nuclear power doesn't come in until they're 18 on average, which is what I'm at right now. In the past I worked at the public library during the summer, because I'm a natural bookworm."

?Your friends ... do you not miss them? Or are they just running acquaintances?

And using these portals is not time travel, I doubt you could appear at the same time as you left.?

"I do... it's been the first semester so far. But I think the best friend that I've been in contact with so far is a young female human named Iris. She's a Fenrir sympathizer, even though she lost her mother to a Fenrir who reportedly went feral. Although I'm not going into the complexity of that issue, because that's a whole different thing altogether now.

My family is actually quite large, and I do hope that I get back and see them for winter break. I can show you a picture of them." She pulled out her pocket computer, which worked like a handheld console that projected a holographic touch screen. She dragged open a picture of her mother's family reunion. Several people (including her mom, dad, and older brother) were shown of various ages with hair colors primarily in the grey or hazel. Occasionally there was a person with white fur. The kids in the photo were probably nieces and nephews of Shana, all having much bushier and shorter tails than she did.

"As for the portals, from what I've seen so far, time and space don't seem to be linear anymore. I know I'm kind of being overly optimistic here. But I kind of live in a world where we have orbiting warpgates, which bend time and space as well."

As Zev continued sniffing around, getting her a number of strange looks from people each time she licked part of the pavement or climbed up the side of a building to get a better view of the surrounding area, she listened somewhat closely to Shana and Sarah's discussion.

"So, what sort of stuff does 'helping people' with the fusion entail? There's the power thing but... basically, what sort of stuff can you do with it?" Zev asked. After a few more seconds she asked, "Also, what is 'nuclear fusion'?"

"They were also needed to help cut away at rocks during the mining phase of the colony." She explained to Zev. "However that isn't so useful anymore. But the fusion powers can be harnessed or focused into a beam that can be used to help fuse metals together. Fenrir can also be found at metal foundries. Because of this, Fenrir are often skilled in metallurgy."

"Gosh, how should I explain fusion?" She bonked her head for a bit to think of a simple answer. "The smallest bits of matter you can find are atoms, and they have these centers called nuclei. These nuclei are held together by a lot of energy. And by fusing two nuclei together you can release this energy. That's the simplest way I can put it in layman's terms."

"Well, would it impress you if you had never seen an armless fire breather before?" Candace questioned.

"Okay, so the nuclei are held together by energy... but if you put more nuclei in there the energy is released? So what's holding them together if the energy is coming out?" Zev asked.

As Shana pulled out the family photographs, Sarah did nothing but stare at the tiny Fenrir children and go: "Aww, they looked so cute and cuddly!"

"Good question. Basically the energy that comes out of it is the difference in binding energy between the two nuclei and the remaining one. Binding energy is what holds the nuclei together." She said, as she was holding the computer screen in front of Sarah. "So it's like nuclei A and B will have a sum total of binding energy, and fused nuclei C will have binding energy that is slightly less than that of A and B combined. And the released energy is the difference between the two. That's the best way I can explain it without going into too much math."

She turned to Sarah, finally. "I know right?" She said excitedly, as if she was a completely different person when turning back to Sarah. "It's held together once a year during winter. We call it Christmas for Apollo, and it's derivative of the one you're probably familiar with. We give thanks for food and company, and exchange gifts. There isn't that much of a religious aspect to it for us."

"Suffice to say, it is quite a sight. Hmm.. wonder what I could do..." Candace mused.

Reinhardt craned his neck, probably looking over Sarah in the process, to look at Shana's pictures.

"I can take care of that right here." Nova opened her computer screen and began bringing up various programs. She used her computer to mimic a common cell-phone and called up the nearest police station, informing them about the attempted kidnapping.

Dala raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you want to do something like that, too? I thought your pride would not allow it."

"I'm not really religious either, but I still celebrate christmas, just because it is tradition and a good holiday.
Anyways, what are the little ones called?" Sarah said, pointing at some little Fenrir in the pictures.

"You could try ... throwing knives? With the weird speed you now possess." Dala thought aloud, not paying to attention to what Candace was rattling about, especially because she did not understand if it was meant to be a 'yes' or a 'no'.

The bounty hunter just smiled back at the guard, pretending that she did not notice his suspicion. Internally however, she was a bit worried. I've got a feeling that if I need to get out of here in a hurry, it wont be easy. Still, I've talked my way this far, maybe I'm getting worried over nothing.

"That makes sense, I suppose." Zev said, as she began looking at the photos, too. She then asked, glancing at Sarah as well as Shana, "What's Christmas?"

After some time, the first guard appeared with another guard. "I will lead you to Krovis." this guard stated. "Come, follow me."
He seemed to be a serious person.

"Christmas is a holiday where you celebrate the birth of the founder of the religion of most people in this part of the world.
That means, you go to church with your family, then go back home, give each other presents and eat really good food." Sarah explained to Zev.
