Lambda sat quietly, not really wanting to get into this debate. Reinhardt, on the other hand, loudly cleared his throat. "Some people need to be helped. Others need to be stopped. The best way to do that is to lock them up or turn them good, but sometimes you need to put them down. And anyone, human or not, is capable of good and bad. I've seen the best and the worst of both." His tone was unusually level and sombre.

"I'm sorry, Sarah, but I must agree with Taner. Even with the help of transhumans and their ability to help cure mental diseases, you can't cure everything. You can cure disease. But morality isn't a disease, it's a choice. And those choices aren't yours to make."

[color=99d039]"Morality is not a choice! Not fully, anyways. You can feel morals, you can feel something as right, and something as wrong. You can't base this on a mere choice!
And I meant ... humanoidity or something. I wanted to include all sentient creatures, there just is not the right word for it, yet."[/color]

"Morality is %100 choice. Well, technically it has to do with the environment you're raised in. If society tells you killing is wrong, you are more likely to see it as wrong, but not always."

"Taner is right. Sarah, I hate to tell you this, but it's entirely possible for people to not listen to their conscience."

[color=99d039]"Even if you think it is completely brought on you by society, which I doubt very much, because nothing is completely brought on by society, it would still not be a choice, as you are limited by the options your society told you.

The only thing you could argue with is absolute free will, and I do not believe this exists.
And if you don't have absolute free will, you also don't have 100% choice in these matters."[/color]

"And with Zev's comment, we've gone back full circle. Morality is relative. Meaning the legislational army works for her world, but not for any of ours."

"Yes, yes, shades of gray and all that." I say, a little disappointed that the discussion is over. "Are we almost there?" I ask as I look around.

 

[Silence]

[color=99d039]"We are."[/color] Sarah said, as building were visible in the distance and coming close.
She drove on a street, then continued the ride, until she parked somewhere inside the city and sighed.

Jumping out of the car, she stated: [color=99d039]"I'm going to look around for a hotel and something to shop. You do what you want."[/color]

"Some bottled water would be nice." She told Sarah. "Something like cashews would be good too."

"Yeah, don't drink the tap water." I advise as I hop out of the truck. "Who else wants to go shopping? I need some sun glasses."

 

[Slenn]

"I would be more than willing to help shop." She said as she too came out of the truck.
