This is nice!

Are the forums going to be separate from the old Escapist Lounge or are they integrated together; a thread rather than a comment section?

You know, I wonder how long it will be before a 15 year old fourth grader wearing an Eminem shirt and a NASCAR hat logs on and calls us all faggots. Are we taking bets?

Not bad for a start. Profiles would be nice. You know, avatars and signatures and all that fun stuff. Make this place feel less like bland forums, and more like an actual community. ;)

Other than that, its a great start. The color scheme is very clean and inviting. Simple.

And to add on to the current topic, I appear to have no problems with the edit button.

We managed to integrate all of the old Escapist Lounge posts into these forums.

Profiles aren't far behind. I'm not 100% sure of what features we'll have, but there will definitely be some goodies in there.

I would get the ball rolling, but I only fulfill three of the four personal criteria you listed. It just wouldn't feel right.

Congrats on the new site design, guys! Start placing your bets on when I'll get banned!

As for feedback:

1. I like blue, but the blue-grey color scheme here just isn't doing it for me. How about something green or black?

2. When I move my mouse over the "Report" button, a tooltip pops up saying something long and undecipherable in what looks like WingDings or some other strange font. This is with IE7B2.

Could always try to appease everybody, and make multiple themes that users can choose from. However, that isn't important to me as I absolutely love the blue, with its hints of orange here and there. :p

The only complaint I really have design-wise is that the corners are curved, yet the top and bottom edges are right on the browser borders. Shouldn't there be a tiny bit of padding there? Just a thought.

Ooh, I thought of something. Maybe we could rig the forums so that you can track either the newest posts or the posts since your last visit, so you don't have to waste precious microseconds going through threads you've already read completely.

I like the format as well. In a way, it's a nice contrast with a lot of the forums on the net that are too busy with pictures, banners, animated gif movies, etc... Simple, non-intrusive avatars might be a nice addition in the future, but I like this. Great start!

OMG WTF BBQ !?!?!11?! I love the added content!!!... buuuuutttt... the new format seems cramped and uneasy on the eyes. Maybe it's because I'm not used to it yet?

I'm also for the idea of avatars. Call me immature, but I love a good ANIMATED avatar. >:OD (I'd ask for sigs too, but beggers can't be choosers.)

On registration, I put in a password that was too short. The page refreshed, informing me of the error and taking the info with it except...for my birthdate.

So I'm born today. Happy birthday to me!

Might want to pass all the data in POST... ;)

Thanks for the heads up on this, all taken care of!
The same thing happened to me today, but I caught it before keeping the default date. If I'm reading that post right then the problem had been supposedly fixed... Well, just an FYI... It hasn't.

Hrm, interesting. Taking a look at it again.

The Report button has been fixed as well.

I can say that this will be my new Soap Box of choice, that an the 4ColorRebellion forums that is. I figure, anyone who reads the Escapist enough to become a member to their forums have to be at least intellectual in a small part.

And if you aren't well, I'll just distract you with shiny objects and pornographic coffee.

Ok really we fixed the registration this time. When you register your and have an error, your birthday will now remain. No more being older than time ;)
