Young Frankenstein. Thought this also was generally seen as his best film but maybe I am wrong or not enough of the younger posters have seen it.

Isn't he the dude who hates Jews?

I think he defined comedy once: "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall in an open sewer and die."

That is my favourite work of his.
I thought that was Mel Gibson. Mel Brooks always plays the Jew.

And I'm going to have to go with either Blazing Saddles or Spaceballs or History of the World Part 1. Can't really decide between them.
Mel Brooks was Jewish actually, he just used anti semitisism as a huge joke bucket in his films, I could pretend to be a high brow art'smer ****** critique and state that

"its the metaphorical anti semitisism joke fired towards the wholy jewish lobby of hollywood that drove Mel Brooks to make such a post modernist statement with his films"

But i'd rather say, "he thought jewish jokes were funny"

Blazing Saddles or Spaceballs... however I freaking love the man, so I have an attachment to most of his films.

It would be easier choosing which of my family I love more. I mean Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, History of the World part 1, Spaceballs, The Producers, Robin Hood: Men in Tights. SO many awesome choices. Though I'd probably pick the latter because I'm also a Cary Ewes fan.

No matter how many people tell me how awesome they think Young Frankenstein is, I just don't get it. That movie bores me to tears. There are some other, lesser known Mel Brooks movies that are...lesser known for a reason. Like Twelve Chairs or Life Stinks.

Though you guys really should check out Silent Movie.

I loved Men in tights. Who could get "We're men. We're men in tights. Tight tights." out of their heads? Space Balls was also Brilliant.

I knew a guy who once mistook Mell Brooks for Mell Gibson (No, I'm not talking about MaxTheReaper. That's just a coincidence). He said Mell Brooks made Passion of the Christ. I laughed so hard from thinking if he actually did make it.

Snip. Mel Brooks tries his best (and succeeds, unlike some comedians) to offend everybody, evening the racial conflict out. Just look at History of the World: Part 1 for that.

Oh, and Ollie596, you didn't get a harrumph out of that guy.

That is brilliant what with Mel Brooks being a Jew and loving the Jew Jokes.

Your guy friend is either really stupid or the wittyest person this side of wittyville.

Give the governor hurumph!

And my favorite of the works that he had a hand in was Get Smart, which was my absolute favorite show growing up. If we're just talking about movies, I'd probably say Blazing Saddles.

And by the way, the best joke in Spaceballs was, "Whatsamatter Colonel Sanders? Chicken?"
