Hi everyone,

I just finished playing through Deus Ex (the new one, obviously), and, like most other people, thought it was a damn good game. Then I remember when the first trailers for this came out, and everyone was either like "Nyeh, it's not going to be as good as the original hurr durr", or "Nyeh, all Squeenix can do is make things look pretty, the actual game will be terrible...hurr durr." Now the game has actually turned out being pretty awesome, for all our weeaboo-bashing, we are gonna have to admit that Jap gaming companies are simply superior to anything out West. They just do it better. Edios tried to make a proper sequal to DE and failed terribly. Squareenix tried and...well...y'all know the result. Anyone agree?

Wasn't square-enix merely the publisher?

Also a lot of people liked Deus Ex: HR , but i didn't. I actually made a thread about not liking it .

Nor sure if Trolling....

..bit of of an exageration dont you think? sure some japanease devs make excellent stuff...but tell me...who has most of the market right now?

but to be fair Im about to make my own *flamesheild*

I tried playng yakuza...and I thourght "you know what? WHY isnt this a movie?" because it was a story that so desperatly wanted/needed to be a movie with some gameplay choped in..Ive heard similar critcizms of Metal gear

western developers unerstand the whole "tell the story through the gameplay" and "no cut-scene overkill" (cutscenes arnt bad..but remember your not making a movie)

Whoo boy, you're making such a complete doofus of yourself that I suspect you're doing it on purpose. Some sort of trolling perhaps? Hm, not sure.

You see, DE:HR was made by Edios Montreal. They are not a Japanese developer. Squeenix was just the publisher.

The PC version's development was outsourced to a Dutch mob who, it appears, knew what the fuck they were doing. A rare thing for multi-platform developed games (the knowing what they were doing part, not the outsourcing).

I wasn't that big a fan of the deux ex. It was an okay game I suppose but I kinda regret buying it and I still can't force myself to finish it when I have better games to play.

Also why should we bow down to them after one good game? I really like Japanese developers usally but well........?

In the interest of making this topic make some sense, I'll say this: the Japanese are way better at making horror games than the rest of the world, although Sweden has made a nice case for itself with Frictional Games.

Let's also not forget that the original Deus Ex (you know, the game that made Human Revolution possible and is regarded by many as one of the best games of all time) was the product of Ion Storm Austin, based in the "Lone Star State" itself, Texas.

I've played plenty of great games from both Eastern and Western developers in my lifetime. Talent knows no borders.

Now the game has actually turned out being pretty awesome, for all our weeaboo-bashing,
...weeaboos and actual japanese are not the same thing...

You do know that right? That there is a vast gulf of difference between a weeaboo and actual Japanese?

we are gonna have to admit that Jap gaming companies are simply superior to anything out West.
Because of, because of one game? That was developed by Canadians? And ported for PC by Dutch? That a Japanese company published?

This is your basis for declaring Japanese game developers as vastly superior, a single video game not actually developed in Japan?

Are... are you stupid?

I mean, I really do normally try to be civil here and I do understand that I run the risk of incurring mdoerator wrath just by asking this, but I seriously need to know, are you stupid?

Now I agree that Deus Ex: HR is a damn good game, but it was only published by Squeenix. It was developed by Eidos Montreal, who are Canadian. I'm going to guess you're trolling or you just didn't do the research.

We Must Now Bow Down to the Superiority of Capitalization in the Thread Title.

OT: Yeah, next time do your research before you post I guess. I mean, I didn't know that either, but If I was going to make a thread about it, I sure as hell would have looked it up first.

Nah: this just one of those Role-Playing threads. "What if Japanese game industry wasn't in decline and they still ruled the woeld with innovative and cool games?" DE was made by Eidos Montreal, if I recall correctily (might be wrong, didn't bother to check)...

No, because Katawa Shoujo wasn't developed by the Japanese; it was made by an international team.

Then again there is the possibility the OP isn't aware of that, considering the OP isn't even aware of who developed DE:HR.

Well as others have already pointed out. Square Enix was merely the publisher. It was developed by Eidos Montreal, a British company.
Personally, I don't care where a developer is located, I just care how good their games are. A lot of my favorite developers are western, a lot of my least favorite are too. I don't play too many games by Japanese developers anymore but that is because they only release to consoles. If they released to PC, I would buy them. I bought SSF4.
-Edit-
Before anyone else points this out, Eidos is still a British game developer, even though it has offices located elsewhere. I know where Montreal is, Jesus Christ.

Not really, but considering the stupidity of the post, that would have actually been a more intelligent argument to make than blind worship of Squeenix for a game they didn't even make.

Worshipping Squeenix for Human Revolution is similar to damning Gearbox for Duke Nukem Forever, they had thier name on it but they did almost none of the work.

But as for turning greater favor to Japanese publishers, ive been trying to incite that for years now with limited success.
