Garriote, blackjack (saps), and stilletos (the midieval spike, not the auto-knife).

All would be excellent for stealth games, though seldom show up.

Rome Total War, Barbarian Invasion I think had a barbarian troop that threw poisoned heads as missiles. Good times. Overall, this thread has strengthened the resolve of my Dead Rising love because of the huge number of things that have been mentioned, and are available in Dead Rising. I would like to see a horned helmet that can be used as a weapon.

Theif series is the only one I have seen with those.

Has anyone mentioned lightsaber-chucks yet? Because we should totally have more of them.
No, and nor should they exist. Can you imagine all the people who accidentally nail themselves in the crotch?

A nuclear _____. I would have fits if there were more nuke weapons in games. No matter how impractical they may be.
EDIT:
Jedoro's Ulaks would also be acceptable.
Fat Man in Fallout.

There, you're sorted.
I'll do you one better: Experimental MERV. I think he would enjoy that more. I know I did XD

Survival of the fittest. Anyone who nails themselves in the crotch probably shouldn't be breeding anyway.

the gyro-jet pistol i don't think its ever been in a video game. saw one at a gunshow a while back and thought to myself "wow a rocket launcher you can hold in your hand, AWESOME"
there is a reason why it hasn't been used, cos the thing kinda sucks performance wise in reality

that and the extreme rarity of both a working version of the gun and ammunition

The scythe is mentioned way too much in this thread. Its completely impractical as a weapon and its all over the place. For a weapon that has never been used in war, except in dire need, the fact that it shows up at all is frankly stupendous.

Now the spear I feel is underused. It's one of the most practical weapons ever made and are weirdly rare to find in games other than on enemies. And when they finally do show up they almost always suck or are a second best alternative.

Here's looking at you Diablo 2, the pike amazon is possibly the weakest possible build in the game, the best pike user is actually the charge paladin and he can replace his weapon with whatever he has lying around, and then comes Diablo 3, guess what, NO spears.

Massive exceptions go to Soul Calibur 4, Final Fantasy 7, Shining Force and Dynasty Warriors, but what weapon isn't in that last one, I'm surprised they don't have a guy who bashes everybody in the face with a rock, they've got a dude with a shield-bayonet for pete's sake, you can't make this stuff up, a fan, a coil of string, a deck of cards?!

Feel free to tell me about games that have used tonfa.
Sun Ce uses dual Tonfas in Dynasty Warriors 3 through 5 (plus the spin-offs of course).

Kukris. Name one game, other than Team Fortress 2, where someone uses a kukri.
Never Winter Nights 1 & 2, they're pretty good in pen and paper DnD (3rd edition), dual wield (vorpal, improved crit) kukri fighter/rogue is a staple build. Yeah NWN has basically the entire catalogue of DnD weaponry so its a cheap shot, but hey, there be Kukris. No tonfa's though.

I actually haven't seen anything that uses a flag pole as a weapon.
The same as my spear girl, Hilde from Soul Calibur 4, she's got a flag (pennant actually) on a spear + shortsword combo going. As for the rest of your list check NeverWinter and Fallout 1 & 2 actually includes thowing knives.

I can point you to Shadow Warrior's Bunny Launcher though.

I mean, I would expect at least 1 zombie game to let me kill things with shovels, but NO.
-Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green

-Day of the Zombie

those have them, and they're pretty fun

if you're gonna play them, I'd suggest taking off your L4D glasses before doing it

OT: for me, I'd like to see a beat 'em up where you can use a Rope Dart or a Meteor Hammer

so far, the only game I've seen with a Rope Dart was Mortal Kombat series (Scorpion's Weapon)

and Yie Ar Kung Fu and Phantasm had the Meteor Hammer, but only in Phantasm you could use it (by possessing the Meteor Hammer ninja)

it would imply originality, since they're both thrown in a straight direction, instead of waving it around like GoW or Rygar

Surprised yet also not so surprised to see so many mentions of scythes listed on just the first page. That's my vote, scythes. Most awesome melee weapon ever and if there's a game which has a wieldable scythe in it I get all giddy.

That said, there's a thread similar to this, but not specifically the same: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.156233-Weapons-You-Would-Like-To-See-More-Of-In-Games

I have never seen a mace and chain done, but someone mentioned that it might be difficult to animate? Idk it's obviously not as simple as a single solid weapon, it has many parts and if you take shortcuts it may just look like a solid weapon but i really have no idea.
Zelda TP used it alright. Aside from explaining where the hell you hide the thing. It wasn't the best weapon, it turns you into a walking tank that smashes things and can't be approached safely but reduces your speed to a dead crawl.

Dungeons and Dragons Online. Is that too obscure to get a cookie for?
