when/why was it decided that a weapon having a eye in it made it evil/dark?

i noticed this when playing kingdom hearts birth by sleep again all the "dark" characters key blades have eyes in them also I'm pretty sure the evil weapon from soul calibur is the one with the eye (not a fighter game fan) if have other examples can u tell me I'm curious to see if this was just a coincidence or some kind gaming trend
I have no damn idea what the hell your post is about.
I ask you to rewrite it so that I could read it and understand it.

That's much better, thank you.
I think that eyes are the gateway to the soul, therefore they are important in art form.
But actually having eyes everywhere, watching your every move - it's sickening, furthermore as you described it having inanimate weapons posses eyes that watch you is very creepy.

well eyes tend to make a weapon look like it is alive, and from my experience at least most living weapons in stories tend to be...not nice.

that and the whole "eyes dont belong there" trope; seeing eyes in unnatural places is inherently creepy, and good things are rarely designed to look creepy.

hmm that makes sense i was asking because i find them cool but i can understand that fighting a bad guy with a sword that stares at u would make them all that more...disturbing

anyway thanks I'll try to get the wording right the first time from now on :p

eye on a weapon means it is probably a demonic feature.
so, mostly evil guys use that kind of weapons.

also, "eye" or "gaze" is related with curse and malice. so evil characters have eye weapons to show their evil intents.

in the case of soul edge, i believe its supposed to represent the fact the sword is both a) alive and b) has a mnd of its own... characteristics that the eye-less soul calibur does not outwardly show.

ive not seen any other swords with eyes, except the old evil soul calibur from soulcalibur 2, whatever happened to that...

In Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, all the bad guys had eyes on/near/was made of them

It's an old ploy started within the horror genre. Swords are generally inanimate objects, yes? So what better way to freak people out than by adding an organic, animate quality to one. Adding an eye makes sense, best defined by Bonecrusherr here:

Besides, you can't deny that having sword that stares back would be creepy as hell. It's also one of few living features you can add that wouldn't necessarily disrupt the function of the sword as a weapon.

Typically, as mentioned already, eyes in or on unnatrual places tends to be creepy, fitting with the weapons being evil.

Indeed a sword with an eye in it watching you implies it is a living thing, a living thing that's sole purpose is to stab the hell out of you. That totally doesn't sound evil at all.
