Webcomics: Which do you read, and why?

It's a bit of a list now that I think about it.

There's a couple written or drawn by the same people: Least I Could Do, The Gutters and LFG, Two Guys And Guy and League of Super Redundant Heroes, I AM ARG and (now) Hatefarm, Dubious Company and Licensed Heroes.

Then there's Unsounded, Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, Fey Winds, Amya Chronicles, Red Moon Rising, Superbitch, Skullkickers, Cyanide and Happiness, Mercworks, Derelict, Hinges, Blaster Nation, Dr McNinja, Zombie Roomie, Happle Tea, Next Town Over, Tripp, Sorcery 101, the Zombie Hunters, Grrrrl Power, Powernap, Nimona, Scenes from a Multiverse, Headtrip, Monster Soup, Supernormal Step, Punch an Pie, Girls With Slingshots, Guilded Age, Strays, Spin Drift, Nerf This, Flaky Pastry, Widdershins, Dead Winter and probably a few others I can't think of off the top of my head and might edit in as I think of them.

I pick a webcomic for different reasons. Some for plot, like Unsounded (zombies and magic and hateable-at-first-but-genuinely-sympathetic-when-you-get-to-know-them little girl with a tail). Some I like how they handle topics, like Punch an Pie and Girls with Slingshots. Most I like for their humour, particularly Twogag, Scenes from a Multiverse and Manly Guys Doing Manly Things. Then there are plenty that are just so damn pretty.

Only check them when I need to kill a few minutes. SatW is my favorite since I can relate a lot by being Swedish. It's also one of the few comics that actually make me shoot air out of my nose slightly faster than normally. The others in the list fail to do that, but I keep checking them once in a while out of habit.

The artist references a lot of history (she is, after all, a student of it) and some of the jokes go over my head. Panels like this one however, show that she does have a sense of humor, and her brush technique and drawing style are just wonderful. I wish I could draw like her, and I went to art school.

Homestuck is pretty much all the webcomic reading I ever did(and am still doing as I'm not quite up to date yet), though I did once start reading Romantically Apocalyptic, but I didnt see that through.
I'm a huge fan of homestuck though, I love the humor and convoluted paradoxical storyline, as well as the characters.

I still find myself going through the old Achewood archive now and then, but the author & artist Chris Onstad was eaten by a grue long ago. I'd also like to take this opportunity to mention Nobody Scores by BBolt, another great and defunct webcomic.

Bad Machinery (I think it's by Ryan North? That might be Dinosaur Comics though), formally Scary go Round, is a very good and current series.

I read Scandinavia and the world, The Oatmeal and Dilbert. Dilbert is a comic I have read for as long as I can remember, and along with Tintin I grew up with, courtesy of my dad, and I love it to this day. The Oatmeal, I was introduced to through a friend of mine at university and I have loved it ever since. I even have a couple of his books, and am thinking of getting his latest one. Scandinavia and the world I was introduced to by yet another friend from university, who lived in Norway for many of her formative years, and has Norwegian citizenship, and I find it hilarious and fairly accurate most of the time.

EDIT: Oh, and Critical miss, but I tend to read that in chunks for some reason, so at most I read it every two or three weeks, depending on how busy I am.

CtrlAltDel (Stopped when the storyline became convoluted and drifted away from the far more amusing video-game one-shot strips)

They've reversed that trend. As of the past few months, the storylines are over and its back to short term gags. Still very amusing but I was somewhat disappointed. I liked those characters.

OT: I'll just describe the ones I follow most closely
-Ctrl Alt Delete, very amusing commentary on video games, also had an excellent and intricate storyline going until recently

-XKCD, sarcasm, math, social commentary, and the use of logic to overcome and understand life's little quirks. Pretty much perfect for me.

-Schlock Mercenary, set thousands of years from now in a galaxy littered with millions of sophonts other than just humanity, the mercenary company known as Tagon's Toughs stumbles hilariously from one disaster to the next.

-Looking For Group, think of it as a parody of every high fantasy story you've ever heard of and you won't be far off.

-Jack, NSFW, The primary character is the metaphysical embodiment of the sin Wrath, who is trying to regain his memories as a mortal and find redemption. Organized as a series of short stories featuring both the best and worst kinds of people.

-Goblins, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, but told primarily from the viewpoint of a band of goblins that, tired of fending off attacks from low level adventurers, decide to become player characters themselves

-Girl Genius, steam punk era mad scientists, with emphasis on the mad, need I say more?

Some favorites:

Gutters- based on the ups and downs of the comic book industry, this comic takes jabs at the medium itself.

Paranatural- a weird, surreal yet entertaining story of a boy with superpowers fighting evil spirits. That should be enough to get you interested.

JL8- an adorable comic showing the lives of the Justice League as 8-year olds. Sweet, sincere and just plain cute, it's neat to see how the writer/artist incorporates elements of the DCU in this setting.

Digger- the story of a wombat far from home caught up in things far beyond her understanding. That's all I'll say about this comic, which you should be reading.

The Whiteboard- a comic about a paintball shop run by a polar bear. You don't have to know anything about paintball to enjoy this comic, just enjoy all the crazy stuff that goes on.

Skin Deep- this one's hard to describe, so let's put it this way: mythological creatures are real, hiding in the guise of normal humans, and this comic is so the story of their trials and tribulations. Sorry for the lousy summary, just give it a look.

Ensign Sue Must Die- a hilarious send-off of the concept of Mary Sues, set in the fandom where the concept originated: Star Wars (albeit the reboot movies, but that's splitting hairs). It also forms a trilogy, with the first two parts finished.

Tales of the Questor- a fantasy story of a young Racoonian (anthro raccoon) becoming a hero despite numerous challenges. Has some religious undertones, but they do help the story, which is still quite good.

The 10 Doctors- a must-read for any Doctor Who fan, it shows all the versions of the Doctor (at the time, anyway), teaming up to fight the combined might of their various enemies, with nods from all over the series.

Darths and Droids- Basically, the Star Wars movies reworked to be like table-top RPGs. Quite lengthy, but still entertaining. It helps that the comic makes the... stranger aspects of the prequels more likable.

Double K- It's Tenga Toppen Gurren Lagann as a buddy cop-style story. What more could you want?!
