Another good example of this I encountered recently on MW2, some Halo fanboy complaining about everything going on and saying how Halo is better. After a chorus of "Go play F$#@ing Halo then!" He wouldn't give up... anyone who goes out of there way to try to force someone else to their view point by way of constant nagging, or in this "weeaboo" case should probably get knocked over the head and tossed into a cage with a starving lion.... Lets see if they can save themselves with random japanese words and such... Happy thoughts.

I hate people who obsess over any one culture to be insufferable period, I mean is there really a whole lot of point learning Japanese and covering your house with anime memorabilia just to show how much you like Japan?

Still, my favourite kind is when they try to deny that their love is obsessive. I used to play left 4 dead with this guy on steam (actually I used to play it with three others, two were guys that liked anime and an Asian girl who was into Japan...kind of funny eh), half the time he'd have the theme song to some anime blaring in the background of his mic and would sometimes be able to translate it for me, whenever I said "You're such an anime fanboy" he'd say "I'm not an anime fanboy!". Then he'd go back to bitching whenever I made jokes about zombie cake orgies (don't ask)...I miss those times.

OHMYGOD I hate Weeaboo's so much!
They act like just cos they're scarily obsessed it makes them the authority, even when they've only seen Death Note and Naruto!
You do NOT say "nyaaan" in an english sentence, you do NOT say "kawaii" in english sentences, and Yaoi is not pronounced Yowie!!!

Wait, you mean there's a group of people who like a thing that make the other people who like that thing embarrassed because this group of people is really annoying about how they like it?

Why does this scenario sound familiar...?
Sounds like Microsoft and Sony fanboys. Except the difference I perceive between the console war and weeaboos is that everyone is involved in the console war, whereas Weeaboos are generally considered the stereotypical anime fan in North America
Weaboos embarrass all anime watchers because of they way they act.
Sony Fanboys embarrass all Sony users because of the way they act.
Microsoft Fanboys embarrass all Microsoft users because of the way they act.
Loud, annoying 12 year olds embarrass all 12 year olds who play online because of the way they act.
Twilight fangirls embarrass the less-fanatical fans because of the way they act.
Mac fanboys embarrass Mac users because of the way they act.

Apply it to anything and the outcome is the same. This is not an isolated condition. You know what rational people do when they find the thing they like is 'weighted down' by the fan base? They ignore them and enjoy whatever it is they want to enjoy regardless. Who the hell cares what other people think about your hobby? Who the hell cares if it's respected or not? Watch it, enjoy it, and fuck all else, or do you require mainstream approval before you can enjoy something?
... Marry me! ;D
Best reply ever.

They are a pest. I am a huge anime fan and I'd even call myself an Japanophile, but I give Japan credit when credit is due and criticism when it warrants it. I'm proud of my western heritage and I quite like the west.

Also: huge fan of anime =/= weeaboo.

I see them as extremist, and I hate all extremist.

You got normal fans who try their best to persuade and defend what they like. And just when they seem to get far enough to be accepted of whatever, some blind extremist does something and the regular fans suffer.

Happens to everything sadly, and I really hate it. I like Anime, but its the Weeaboos(extremists) who really keeps me from becoming an actual fan.

The title should be Weeaboos: Mankind's Greatest Enemy.

Seriously, it's people like them that put me off animé in general.

Everyone hates weeaboos. They're annoying to people that don't like anime, and people that do. They just need to be "cleaned up" in general.
If by cleaned up you mean zombified, put in a walled off city full of cameras and weapon stashes and stuff and then put death row inmates in there as a gameshow, then awesome idea.

First off: >implying that this is unique to anime

I like to think I'm the biggest black metal fan here and even I despise the "tr00 kvlt" folk (despite them likely being an urban myth, especially 'round here).

Second, you could've just said you hate fanboys (or a similar word) and driven the point home just as well, if not better.

My friend called me a weeaboo when I last saw him... To say he's supposed to be my best friend, he sure does insult me a lot. Even though he ordered some sweets just because they were from Japan and hasn't touched them.
I really hate the word 'Kawaii' when they use it. Ughhh.
I'd advise against venturing onto gaia-online, your head might asplode :p
