That's actually not true, I've witnessed a man licking his own elbow several times (always the same guy, though), and he does it quite easily... if you ignore the fact that he dislocates his shoulder before doing it. xP

There are also apparent John Lennon references, Bob Dylan and Elvis comparisons, uggesting that if it is a song about big musical events, then the most important point of the song is 'The day the music died.' It could be that the song is about various days when music could be said to have 'died'. (Don McLean refuses to say what this song is about)

Unless it is looking at its arms an octopus has no idea where they are or what they are doing.

Technically, it's an IUPAC name. But it's not generally accepted as an English word. It's not in a dictionary and it really only exists for chemists and biologists to describe its structure. I once sat through a genomics lecture where the lecturer thought it would be 'funny' to show that it takes 12 (or so) slides just to post its entire name. We weren't amused.
