Hi guys I was wondering what the wierdest fear you have ever had down to tv, films, games e.t.c (There have been threads like this before but limited to games)My own happened recently. I'm pretty sick at the moment and after watching Survivors I genuinely thought I was going to die. Weird, huh.

I knew a guy who took acid and watched Arachnophobia. The next day he woke up and his flat was trashes, he thought he was killing spiders. Smashed everything.

Mine is bread mould, after I saw scooped-out-face-guy and the doctor said that what ate his face was essentially break mould.

I have heard of several weird phobias like vestiphobia (fear of clothes). Personally I am probably most fearful of sharp pointed objects pointed at me even if you are 2 feet away, interestingly though I do not far getting a shot or blood test much anymore.

Cable cars. I know the cable is comprised of thousands of smaller metal cables and it's much stronger than it seems, but it's just one cable.

There's this marine park my family and I visit regularly, and to go from the lowland to the highland you either take the cable car (10 minutes), walk there (30 minutes) or leave the park and take a cab to the highland entrance (20 minutes). They take the cable car. I take the cab.

Towers like the Seattle Space Needle terrorize me. I can't go to the edge of the observation deck because I swear I can feel the tower leaning.

Ferris wheels. I'm afraid the damn wheel is going to roll onto the streets and wreak havoc on pedestrians and vehicles alike.

I've done Six Flags roller coasters and I have no issues with them because there is so much supporting structure visible and that reassures me. I know the attractions I mention are also designed to be perfectly safe but to me visually they seem like disasters waiting to happen.

You probably can.

Anyway, I fear people looking at my artwork. To the point that I simply won't draw if someone's there to watch it happening. I'd love to know what a psychiatrist would make of that.

Funny you mention that. I used to have that fear - and being criticized for my art, but I had to quickly learn to deal with it once I started working in design. I always attributed that to my father's lack of support (and belittlement) for my artistic endeavors.

Maury did some episodes about 'irrational' fears a while back. Some of the culprits were fear of peaches, pickles, balloons, etc.

Peaches Video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l2TjQSYCxE]

Pretty odd to watch.

Actually, I already work in art and design. I'm an illustrator and make half of my living from producing images for people. I just find it incredibly difficult to allow people to see what I'm doing. Even when something's fnished it's difficult to actually talk about it.
My Dad wants me to be a plumber, what did yours think you should do 'as a real job'?

A diplomat. I hate suits.

My father was a diplomat, and my whole life I was being groomed to become one, but I just couldn't stomach it after three years of studying. You have to go through law school first, and one of the only things I learned about law is that there is no justice, and everything seemed so fake afterward. Plus, my heart's in design and it's what makes me happy. I could have made considerably more money as a diplomat, but I wouldn't have been happy with my career choice.

I'm not really scared of anything but as I've said before I'm very, very wary of mirrors and other reflective surfaces mainly because I'm scared of something like this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vDz2mWMMRN0 (at 1.20-1.42)(Eisoptrophobia). Probably also why when I watched fight club recently chills ran down my spine (I guess I'm scared of losing myself or my mind to another?)

A fear that I have is people watching me while I eat. Whenever I eat I can feel whether someone is watching me; it makes me feel very uncomfortable.
