So, I am from Germany and my motherlanguage therefor is German, I study English at uni, but still, I mostly talk and write German.

So, but on Twitter the other day I was expressing my feelings towards trying to get a date, and the girl saying "maybe" and left it at that until that very evening (we did go out then and it was really nice and we will do it again, but that aside)

Weirdly enough I found myself saying all that stuff on English and I don't know why. For some reason I am able to express my feelings and my thoughts on the theme "love" best when I do it on English.

So Escapists, what are your weird quirks along those lines?

I count to 10 in Spanish if that counts?
For example, I guess.

I ment the thread in a "weird stuff that you do that does not even make sense"- kindof way

Uuuuuh. Let's see.
I'm from Sweden, and I've been online since I was eight years old. I've grown up with English TV, videogames, music, books, etc, and now I study at the University, where all literature is in English. As a result, I have an odd habit of changing language mid-sentence when talking Swedish to someone, just saying what I am to express in the words that first come to mind, no matter the language.

- I always run on my toes, i.e my heel never touches the ground.

- I chew anything that's denser than water. So yogurt or soup I always end up chewing, even if there are no 'chewable' parts (like fruits/berries for yogurt or meat/potato for soup)

- Whenever I wet my hands, I must always run one hand through my hair or wet my face with it. I have no idea why.

My neck twitches at random. Has been doing so since birth, happens more often than not in cold weather. I have an extremely high threshold to inner pain, but extremely low threshold to outer pain (i.e getting a shot, taking a punch, etc)Other than that I have some mental quirks. For instance I am the worse procrastinator you have ever seen in your life, even when it comes to legal stuff. Also I lose every argument I am in even though I know I'm right (don't know why, I am just not that good at standing my verbal ground...thus it seems to the other person that their point is winning out even though it really isn't.)

Oh...also..animals seem to love me. I don't know why, probably it's because I am generally not very afraid of animals so the animals don't feed off of my stress, making it much easier for me to approach them. (of course this doesn't apply to very aggressive animals)

Thats pretty much everything I can think of at the moment.

I like to shower in the dark. Dose that count? I also have an almost obsessive tendency about shunting off lights when no one is in the room. But I know why with that one.

I'm pendantic and always have the urge to correct people. Like in the OP first thing I noticed was that you wrote motherlanguage instead of the correct mother tongue.

Not that I couldn't go on with this but I prefer to reveal my crazy in small little dosages so people actually have to do some archive digging before they can drag me into an asylum. Now get to it people, I'm sick of closing my jackets at the front like an animal!

I like to turn off the lights, close my eyes, turn on the shower and curl up in a fetal-position in the shower, pretending I'm in the amazon rain-forest.
I once showered for three hours, sleeping like this.

Well now you have to. It's a law or something XD

OT: I have a relatively strong sense of smell, so I smell my food and drinks (especially Coca-cola) to... Uh... Find stuff out about it? I use taste and smell to experience it... This sounds weirder writing it out than I had initially thought XD

Suffice it to say I smell everything as if I were a brewer.

Your knees will thank you for that one day. Gotta be hell on your calves though, unless you're used to it by now.

I seem to get intense bursts of creativity and motivation when everyone around me is asleep. It's like I know I won't be disturbed or have to socially reintegrate suddenly, so I can just go wild. Thinking about adopting new sleep patterns because of this.

Uh I drink far too much tea? Does that count? Literally at least 8/9 cups a day, it's silly.

I find it really hard to judge people negatively and I find it hard to consistantly doubt people. Not sure if the two are related.

Also my sleeping habits are fucked up, i'm blaming Rookie for dragging me up at 1am for moar LoL all the time.

Yeah, I do that too.
OT: Mine's a bit strange. When my lips get dry the skin on them comes off a bit, and I have this bizarre habit where I peel it off with my fingers or my teeth. Sometimes this causes bleeding, occasionally profusely.
I have absolutely no idea where it came from or why I do it.

Uhm lets see....

I always have to have my bathroom door shut and locked when I'm in it even if nobody else is home and I'm just nrushing my hair or teeth.

When I fall asleep on my back I have these weird hallucinations and moments of my mind being awake but my body being mostly paralyzed.

I can only fall asleep for good and for real in the fetal position when laying on my right side.

There are probably some others but I'm too tired to think of them right now.

Not that weird, it's surprisingly common. I once had a nightmare where I was in that state and I couldn't wake up properly. I imagine that's what being in a coma is like.

AWWW YEAH HIGH FIVE!

I do that too.

I can't use one arm more then the other, like if I am doing a task with my right arm, the next task I do I do with my left arm. The thought of one arm being used more then the other terrifies/enrages me.

I have more but they are hard to explain so I'm not going to try.

If I'm walking along and accidentally scuff my shoe, or bang my toe, or anything of the sort I have to do the exact same thing to the other foot, even if it was painful or unpleasant. I have no idea where this has come from and I didn't even realise I did it until I sat and thought about it right now.

Also, I get giggly and light-headed if I orgasm more than twice in quick succession. Kind of ruins the moment.
