PC gaming will not die until consoles become upgradeable over time and have better controls. I hate to imagine playing a Total War game on my xbox, it'd probably lag and the controls would suck.
Well, given there are 1 billion gamers in the world... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.160475-EAs-Riccitiello-Over-a-Billion-Gamers-in-the-World-Today], it doesn't sound quite that much of a stretch.maddawg IAJI said:300 million?...Where they heck do they get that number? Yes, there are a lot of PC gamers. We already knew that, but 300 million is an EXTREME stretch.
Depends how you cut that statistic. Are we counting people who played a video game once and are therefore listed? Is there any cross over between the numbers (Example, Are Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends' total player count being counted despite players belonging to both communities.)? How are they determining who the unique users are and who aren't? How do they count for the people who own multiple consoles and a pc gaming computer?The_root_of_all_evil said:Well, given there are 1 billion gamers in the world... In fact, it's only .3% of all gamers...pretty low really. Depending on what version of a billion we're using.
Lets say 1 billion is 1000 million. Even if PC gamers consist of 300 million, the article says that there are more PC gamers than console gamers. That leaves at minimum 400 million gamers who don't play on a PC or Console, the majority.The_root_of_all_evil said:Well, given there are 1 billion gamers in the world... OK, how about DAU/MAU?maddawg IAJI said:We really need a set definition for the term gamer,
Well, you've got Teletext, iPhones, Androids, Oric, BBC, Commodore, Spectrum, iPad, Xbox, Playstation 1/2/3, Gameboy, DS, VCS, 2600, 400, 800, some TVs, Wii, Wii U, Game+Watch, Digital Watches...C95J said:So what do that majority of gamers play on?
They already have option like that and they aren't as good. They are basically a mouse and nunchuck type thing and it is still not Gaming and never will be Gaming because companies like these feuds. Aside from that PC gamer is more than Kb+M that is just one of its main advantages.Skizle said:Give the option of Keyboard and mouse on and a console and the term "PC gaming" will become extinct and the proper term will be "Gaming"Irridium said:Yeah, I'm with you. PC gaming isn't dead/dying.
Does anyone even carry that view anymore?
I'm a PC gamer, and I find this whole thing very silly.
OT: I love Razer, but this is just them being smug. Also isnt the date on the letter the date for the new version of the Mamba coming out?
Casual stuff like iPhones and other things like PSP and DS which is the handheld market not consoles market which does seem a likely 400 million(Consoles+Handhelds).C95J said:As a console gamer by trade who has recently bought a gaming computer, I sure hope PC gaming isn't dying out!

So what do that majority of gamers play on?
Like I asked earlier, can they count for users who play both games and steam or that user counted 3 times?The_root_of_all_evil said:OK, how about DAU/MAU?maddawg IAJI said:We really need a set definition for the term gamer,

from my post here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/7.306235.12317641]
18 million people playing Cityville (presumably on a PC) daily. And that's specific PC gamers per day, I believe.
Steam has about 4 million users online at the moment. It's quite feasible really.
hmmm, I would have thought either PC or Console would have been the majority, I guess more people buy handheld devices than I thought.Glademaster said:Casual stuff like iPhones and other things like PSP and DS which is the handheld market not consoles market which does seem a likely 400 million(Consoles+Handhelds).C95J said:Lets say 1 billion is 1000 million. For DAU's, then the number is relevant - although you can't just add up DAU's for the reason you quoted.maddawg IAJI said:Like I asked earlier, can they count for users who play both games and steam or that user counted 3 times?
I'm sorry, but I'm just a bit of a skeptic, especially when stats are involved.
