No, for my I just hold the power button 'till it turns red because sometimes leaving it in Standby with Wiiconnect 24 on can over-heat your Wii if you have an older model.

Oh god, I hate it when my Wii flashes the blu-light (hehe, blu ;) ) at the middle of the night no less. At first I resorted to putting a blanket over it, but now I just unplug my wii from the power then replug it back in.

It's been said before but:

Red means it's not connected to the internet but in standby mode.
Yellow is standby mode but connected to the internet.
Blue is "you've got mail!"

seriously. if the power button is red it's off. if it's yellow, it's off but is connected to the internet. that's not complicated AT ALL...

and the blue glowing light is a new mail. haven't you noticed that every time you log in when the light is blinking there's a new update or a new mail message of some sort? I mean, I realized that within the first couple months...

and if the blue light bugs you, just turn off the option for it. it's in the menu...

it's no longer doing anything. that pretty well defines off to me, regardless of whether or not there are parts of it that technically still have power.

It still is, for yellow it's still connecting to the internet and getting things for you, then games that lasy 24/7 like AC and Pokemon Ranch are also being used with that power.

I was talking about when it's red, not yellow. I know yellow means it's still downloading, btu when it's red it's effectively off.

The disc flashes blue when you have a new message, it'll stop once you read the message or after a few days. The light is yellow when off when you are on Wii Connect24.

I know this has been stated many times already, but I will answer every question anyway:

Red means the Wii is off and with no internet connection. It will be red if you unplug the Wii and plug it back in again. When the light is green it is on. When the light is yellow/orange, it is off, but still has an internet connection (standby mode/so you don't have to reconnect the Wii to an IP address upon starting it up again).

The disk drive flashes blue when you get a message. If you turn on the Wii and wait a few seconds, the circle at the lower right on the main menu will blink and tell you that you have a new message. Usually this is an update unless you have amassed many Wii friends who do not have an instant messaging program. In the last day the Wii has had a major update to parent controls and the system. (I updated only now.)

Am I really the only person who reads user manuals?

Yellow light does mean standby with internet
Red light does mean standby without internet
Blue drive of demons wrath means that there is an update of some sort on your' console.

If stopping the blue light in the system settings doesn't fix the problem you have zombie ghosts.... Sorry, I suggest a sturdy pipe if they are a physical entity, and hairspray with a lighter if they are only ghosts.

Your post is brilliant, so I am quoting it.
