I have no Idea what made me afraid of this, and how it even popped into my head.

So, what was your weirdest fear as a kid?
When I was a kid, I was afraid of people.
It's not like I was afraid of them beating me up or anything, I was scared of any kind of interaction. I was such a shut in that I couldn't talk to anyone. TV and video games were my friends at the time (kind of sad but I wouldn't know English if it wasn't for that so I guess it wasn't all bad).

Just before high school, I got really into dancing and by the second year, I was already working part time in a theater doing stage performances, working with large groups of people, often having to share dressing rooms with 20 or more cute girls, so that kind of helped me get over that "fear".

I was scared of none other than Willy Wonka the Chocolateer. And no, not even the real version from the movie, but the cartoon version that you could find on a box of nerds or nerds rope and other candy from him. Strangely enough I kept buying his candy though. I feared at night that he was walking through my room with his cane poking at my tent (yes a tent, when I was 7-8 I slept in a ladybug tent every night inside my room)and that he would along with the devil come to devour my soul. I seemed to have a trinity of fears at this age. And these fears seemed to arise from this dream I had which was strange as hell to say the least. I saw this dude at a pool with a melted tongue and he said the pool was filled with acid (made me worry that all pools were filled with corrosive acid) and then I found our willy wonka put a curse on my neighborhood and there was a strange yellow liquid in my bathtub and batman was in there with mittens (Made me fear mittens. yeah, mittens. I'm not even kidding.)for hands and he was telling me to run and then he turned into a cooked turkey. Then I ran out of my house down the cul de sac street with the tidal wave of yellow liquid chasing me screaming and it eventually swept over me too and I also turned into a turkey (Which made me fear Willy Wonka and his demonic capabilities) and that was the end of the dream.

I had a strangely specific fear of clowns that resonated from an equally as strange nightmare. It began in a happy way at a circus, and then after the spotlight went off the clown he exploded into a 50 foot monster and began murdering everything.

Totally awesome.

Being knifed by indians. And I live in Norway, and in this day and age... well, the odds were low.

When I was really young I was scared of this one particular deer-head mounted on my baby-sitter's wall just above the TV. I fell asleep one day watching TV and had this dream to where weird stuff was going on all around me but the only thing that scared me was the deer head. In my dream the deer was looking at me and just trying to escape (presumably from the wall) while it's antlers would 'scissor' together as if it wanted to murder me where I sat. Oh, that's still spooky.

Also I used to be afraid of window-unit air conditioners thanks to that Brave Little Toaster movie where the AC gets mad and starts burning itself out and making the most awful noises... Still gives me shudders today... The scene from the movie, anyways, Not ACs.. I LOVE my AC XD.

A dancing sunflower toy. I swear to Christ, when I saw it dancing, I just bolted out of the house in sheer terror.

I was afraid of everything as a kid. Being sucked down the drain in the bath tub, being attacked by a dog, seeing a fire when I opened a door, being attacked in the dark, the monster in my closet, Dr. Robotnik, and that's just the beginning. It's odd that as a child I was afraid of everything and now I'm all "bring it" when it comes to scary things. It takes a bunch to unnerve me.

Really high ceilings. I kept thinking that things would fall down on me from above. I wasn't scared of open sky when I was a kid - but I was always very nervous in any building with a very tall ceiling.

Also: The Simpsons. Apparently when I was about 4 years old, I would freak the hell out anytime the Simpsons came on. Something about the eyes of the characters would cause me to flip out. I have no memory of that - I only remember being really fond of The Simpsons when I was younger, but everyone else in my family tells me that I would just scream and scream and scream whenever I heard the theme music start. I assume my four year old self thought the Simpsons were monsters or deformed humans.

Well I was afraid of zombies for a good while during my childhood. Weirdest fear though was the phase i went through where i was constantly afraid i was going to spontaneously combust.

T-Rexes. That's what happens when you watch Jurassic Park when you're 5.
i was worse... in grade 7 i had a legitimate fear that a t-rex would randomly walk down my street (in the middle of nowhere) and eat me, having just seen jurassic park... i didn't sleep... granted it was only for about a night or two before i realised i was being completely stupid and got over it, but still...
I actually had reoccurring nightmares about being chased by a T-Rex and I'd always get myself cornered and the T-Rex would barge into the room and then I'd wake up. Man I was a cowardly kid.

I used think my closet was a door to other dimensions. To this day I'm afraid to stand inside it, in case I fall into another world or something. Stop looking at me like that. o_O

I was actually afraid of cats when I was little. I think this was mostly because I was never really around them until I was about four and the first two I encountered were these huge mounds of fur that were almost half as big as me. Now I love them tho lol

I was scared of damn near everything as a kid, but that made me a strong person that isn't afraid of anything. Or maybe that was boot camp... Whatever. When I was 5 or 6, my bed was against the wall straight across from the door. I had to either face the door so a glowing skeleton didn't walk in or the wall so 2D robbers wouldn't slide up through the crack between my bed and the wall and pull me under. I had to make a tough decision every night, and kept switching sides until I fell asleep.

Sorry if this is a bit late (6 pages!) but that sounds an awful lot like the Arcade-esque platformer (rip-off of Frogger) Zapper. Did you play that as a child, by any chance?

Anyway, for me it's always been the fear of suffocating inside a safe. Yup, child me was thinking about that.

I also saw the film CUBE at the age of 7. Nightmares for quite a few months there.

Same. On top of that I had a fear of wind for a few years, as I was always paranoid that even the slightest breeze would become a hurricane at a moment's notice. I knew that this was impossible, and that there was no way that I would be hit by a hurricane without knowing about it beforehand, but for some reason that didn't deter me.

The way I cured that fear was the weird part... One day, when the wind was particularly strong, I stood in an Earthbending stance (as in from Avatar: The Last Airbender) and pretended that I had rooted my feet in the ground. I just did that every time I was frightened and eventually I wasn't scared.

I was a weird kid.
