I apologize if this has been made before but I just wanted to know what games you've played that are weird, but you thought were awesome.

Mine would have to be when my sister bought a Hello Kitty game for the gamecube, and I played it for a bit (don't ask me why) and got hooked for a while, looking back it wasn't exactly my best of moments but hey, why not let your feminine side out once in a while?

For those interested it was this game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_Kitty:_Roller_Rescue

Which I don't think saw American release...

Deadly Premonition

Its awesome, but very weird... The main character has an "imaginary" friend who he talks to constantly. Its open world and theres a clock, which goes by real-time and missions are only available at certain times... The protagonist also reads his fortune in his coffee... and from what I've heard, the game was made "terrible" on purpose...

Killer 7 is always a good starting point. Its beyond description

I would say Myst/riven because if you knew how to move through it quickly and the way the game looked, it had a very acid induced vibe that was just surreal (IE moving between areas quickly)

Also, I remembered buying a game, Simply because of its acidic appearance N2O. Wasnt very good, but it was something that was made alot better with proper chemical enhancement.

Also the trip code cheat for bloody roar that produced tracers... wiggy!

Drakengard. It was like Drakengard. That is all.
Dynasty Warriors + Dragons + The Cast of Evangelion + Cthulhu= OHGODWTFISTHAT?!

Anyway. Mainstream games, Katamari Damacy. For those not in the know, the King of the Cosmos got drunk and destroyed all the stars. You must roll around on Earth, rolling random debris into a ball, which shall become a star.

For freeware, anything made by the Japanese. Drill Milky Punch is at the top.

I played this game called Bujingai: Forsaken City for the PS2

the only way I can describe it is God of War meets Devil May Cry during a tour on the Tranny side of Rainbow Islands

srsly, it has a shitload of combos, the main character looks like a transvestite clown and both his swords have the mysterious power of casting rainbow-like color shades everytime he swings them

and it was so damn sweet.

btw, the guy can fly

Animal crossing was a really weird game. Living in a town of animals, with almost no objective. The obsession over furniture was bizzare.

Sacrifice.

It was... an experience, that's for certain. Lots of big, intense battles in a very bizarre fantasy setting, full of earth shaking magic ranging from creating volcanoes to summoning giant cows that dive into the ground.

How about a blue hedgehog that can run fast enough to break the sound barrier and goes around foiling a mad scientist while looking for 7 gems that can turn him yellow?

Seal Hunter i must say
you are one (or two) persons trying to save the fishes in sweden/norway because all seals/icebears/ etc. have eaten all and if only one of those pass your defence you lose
and you arm yourself from everything from a gun to a six-barreld machine gun

Actually, Keita Takahashi says that Katamari was a statement about capitalism/consumerism. That it seems all you do in consumerist society collect more and more things and no matter how much you have it's just never enough.

I was thinking something different when I played this game and I just never noticed the subtext when it came to it.

That's the game I was going to say... "I knew this was going to happen I saw it in my coffee this morning"
