Weirdest reason for not playing a game

I have no wierd reasons inparticular, but havign seen your reason for being unable to play games like fallout, i beleive you to be very linear. I don't like games where there is too little possibilities. Like COD. Shoot those people. That's it. Boring. In a statement involving COD, this is an odd thing to bring up, but i enjoy pokemon because i don't have to train any of them if i don't wish to. My team could consist of any combination. Not strictly strong ones. Just ones i like personally. i quite like access to some form of customisation, you see.

try brink every gun has easily over 10,000 customizations of it excluding colours, so customization based around stats and then their are the colouring option pushing each gun into 1,00,000's with 24 guns that means easily over 24 million gun customizations then of course their is the character customization which also has easily over 1,000,000 customization option so brink has a lot of choice in character(their is also a perk like system) and then it comes to freedom of movement which can let creative players either take a very secure path to the enemy flag or to a good vantage point with a sniper.

I pretty much will not play a game if one of my idiot ex-friends play it. at least not on the same system as them. but that doesn't limit many games for me as they only play CoD an the 360.

for them, graphics>gameplay+story
and CoD doesn't even have the greatest graphics.
they refuse to play l4d2 because it has "crappy" graphics and is "really boring"
they won't play portal because, again, it has "crappy graphics" and is rated T
that's how most of the "gamers" at my school are.

Perfect example for me, DC Universe Online. Game costs $120NZD. Comes with a free thirty day trial. Then you have to pay at least $40 more for at least a month.

I actually might have trouble in this thread because my reasons are fairly logical.

Racing, Sports and Fighting games: Mostly because overall they appear to be a dime-a-dozen games with little to no improvement from game to game, secondly: I am not a competitive person and those games are all competitive.

As I heard someone else mention FF13, I realized that was another example of a game I don't like playing.

I like FF9, I like FFTactics, but FF13 was junk. It was pretty, that is the greatest praise I can give it, the characters were either generic or unlikeable, the story was incomprehensible and they made NO effort to explain it, the fights barely felt interactive, overall it was just pathetic compared to some of the better FFs.

 

[Midnight Crossroads]

All post apocalyptic games are a massive turn off for me for the simple reason that I hate the idea that I'm walking around on the dead husk of human civilization, and that my character's life amounts to scavaging trash to survive. Nothing makes me want to turn the game off more than a rusty Kalashnikov and realizing my health items are stale food I found in a broken refrigerator.

I could play the game until Donald and Goofy showed up, the endless "Gawrsh!"s and Donald's speech impediment made me want to kill both of them and I simply stopped playing soon after.

Hell, I refuse to play Amnesia because I can't fight back. Even when you're the world's frailest wimp you should still be able to fling a chair at the bastards. People can be very dangerous when they're scared shitless...

Also, IMO games being too popular actually is somewhat of a decent reason. Why? Because if a game gets to a certain point of popularity then chances are it isn't because it's good, it's because it appeals to the lowest common denominator. I'm not talking about any games in particular, but I support this sentiment.

i cannot play games like... Minecraft because it is overwhelming... there are so many things you can do in the game and i just get overwhelmed by the possibilities i have.

You know what options you have when you first get in there? You can explore, or you can punch trees. That's it.

Don't worry though, mine's even less reasonable: I refuse to play Final Fantasy VII (Or ANY of them really) because Cloud has by far the stupidest sword in the history of everything. It's not cool, it's not practical; hell it's not even feasible to cut a nice straight line without the wind resistance catching it and flopping it around like a giant fan. It doesn't matter how good the rest of the game is, if you're expecting me to buy that the main character seriously believes the ideal heroic weapon of choice should be a pizza peel, then you can stand back and watch as I heroically show my back as I walk right back out the door again.

You know, I see people give that game a lot of shit for his sword, but seriously, it is a game. They aren't going for realism or anything, and nobody seemed to give other games, such as MW2 (dual sawed-offs), God of War (main weapons), or any other game shit for having absurd weapons.
