I thought it was funny how the Zelda universe had Rupees, which is actually the currency of India. However, I don't think it comes in jewel-form and you don't have to run around Mumbai breaking pots to earn them (that is a good way for you to get arrested though).

Teefy for me. How odd is a currency made out of the teeth of your rivals. On the plus side theres a near constant supply.... As long as you're bigger than your neighbor.

Bottle Caps. Ever since I've played Fallout, I started to collect bottle caps. In hope that, when the nuclear apocalypse arrives, we'll at least have some money to get by.
You do that too??? I suddenly feel less alone in the world. I just started and I'm up to about fifty. What are you up to?
I'm at around twenty five right now. There's probably a bit more, but my room is so messy right now, so maybe I'll find some once I start to clean it. :p

Slugs, or SL, is the currency in my Sauerbraten clan :p

Each player begins with 100SL, and passer-bys have infinite money.
You spend money to get stuff made for you, or to have access to handy teleports, or get useless food :D
When someone commits a crime, or money needs to be given to the government for any reason, the money goes to X.
At random, I evenly split X between all the online members.

That way, people are constantly changing their prices.

:D

That's commitment. I apologize for not having read what you wrote, but that's just the topic being interesting enough to check out the thread but not THAT interesting. You have my credits (see what I did there?)
No biggie. All my initial posts in a topic are about that length, so I'm used to people ignoring them entirely.

You know what's a weird currency, though? The money in Ace Combat. An entire fighter plane goes for about 20,000 of whatever they call their money. That's a strong currency. You can get a house for like 1500 bucks in the Osea suburbs, I bet. You don't even want to know what the dollar menu is like at McBurgerman in San Salvacion.

Edit: On the subject of bottlecaps, one of my brother's friends got, for his birthday, a toolbox filled with dozens of bottlecaps, two crushed packs of cigarettes, a railroad spike, and a bunch of other Wasteland-appropriate detritus. It was tremendous, if only because of the thought that went into it and the effort to put it together.

Rupees from Zelda, they just seemed very impractical as currency. And they were always randomly inside tall grass...watching...waiting...
Have you read the Penny Arcade comic about the rupees from Zelda?
I do not believe I have, link (lol get it) please?

Dammit, I thought that would've been original... I had a dead-in-infancy RPG that used souls as a secondary currency. Different types, even. After spending a certain amount, you would've found out you just released the game's Main Villain. (Oops.)

Dinarii. It's the coinage used in the city of Rome itself, and yet everfy faction uses it.

Thank you. I was hoping someone would say bottlecaps so I can explain the perfectly reasonable explanation behind their usage as currency.

1. They're easily recognizable.
2. There's a large, but not infinite supply of them.
3. They're very difficult to counterfeit.
4. They're convenient.

Bam.
Why'd you have to go ruin mah fun.

I'm going to say isk from eve, simply because wtf... who calls their currency "isk", also it can cause miscommunication alot in eve, like about risk and isk, and If I'm isking you something you'd better reply.

Also on a disturbing note, I've begun to say things like "Im all outta iskies atm" in real life, which means of course that I play too much eve...
