I went to school with a girl who is now, in all practical ways, a sex slave. She has a bad heroin addiction, and her dealer also happens to be the person she lives with. She cleans his house, fuck him and his friends, and isn't permitted to speak unless spoken to. From what I've heard, she has one pair of cloths and isn't even allowed to leave the house without him with her. He's achieved this through a combination of drugs and mental/physical abuse.

People know about this, and so far, most people just seem to laugh/joke about it. I've spent my whole life not getting involved with other people's problems, but I really feel like I could and should do something to help here. So should I do something, or make jokes about this poor girl like most of my friends seem content doing?

Any ideas?

That's fucked up. Definitely don't make jokes about it, that's also fucked up.

Well, if it's heroin, leave an anonymous tip about this particular individual being in possession. That should get him arrested.

And/or talk to her, convince to try rehab. That's really the only way to get off the stuff.

I'd say police. The dealer gets busted and she might do some time too, but she might get the help she needs from a shrink. I know it's harsh but attempting to go in and take her out it going to be tough. Even then, it it is heroin, she'll still feel the effect wayyy after this event.

You're doing the right thing to help. Don't go in alone

Should you do something? Yes call the cops. If they manage to settle up the drugs and abuse, then you can go in for moral support.

Should you make jokes? abso-fucking-lutely not. (<--- that period is bolded for emphasis ah fuck it, I bolded the whole thing to be clear)

Drop a tip to the police about a house with abuse and what appears to be drugs. Make sure you let them know the girl is key. If she has family they may not know where she is. Let the cops handle it. But they need to know before they can act.

How in the hell do you expect us to help? Seriously, what can The Escapist Magazine community do to make this in anyway better?

Go to the police or at least go to someone who knows about this stuff and how to react to it. I don't think you need us to tell you that. And if you're going to make a thread about a person enslaved from their addiction to heroin make the title reflective of that.

Please don't try to confront the guy yourself. That's really dangerous and though I don't know you, I wouldn't want you getting hurt or killed.

I think that an anonymous tip to the police might be your safest bet for everyone. I agree with 2fish and think you ought to emphasize that you're worried about the well-being of that girl.

If he is dealing, he'll probably kill you. Or worse.

Go through as many "Proper Channels" as you can. You aren't Max Payne.

Yes, definitely call the police. Now, I know the idea of storming in there all bad-ass like and saving her is attractive, but you might just get yourself hurt, if that is what you're thinking...

ummm... tell the police? Like Kuchinawa said even if she has to do time it would probably be better than were she is now because she'll receive medical and psychiatric help if you tell the police about it. Plus you will be stopping a drug dealer from making another women into a sex slave or a man into a broken soul.

you will get shot. If he is dealing heroine and using a sex-slave, he will not hesitate to shot someone. I'd say police.
