There's no way God of War releases this year, but you're right 2017 is looking good. I'm easily the most excited about Nioh and so far it's doing really well critically. Looking forward to RDR 2 as well, and I'm sure a couple of great indies will pop up.

only thing on that list worth buying is Crash Bandicoot Remasters imo.

maybe South Park when it gets cheap too. not at full price though. (Ubisoft doesn't deserve my money)
That's because it's my list. What about your list? What are you excited for Yoshi?
Yoshi only gets excited about cartoony games.
i didn't know Metroid was cartoony?
It IS cartoony. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
only the 2D games.

the Metroid Prime games are a lot more realistic actually. except for Fed Force.

I'm loving dishonoured 2 at the moment, or was that 2016, I only just got it. Prey looks awesome, Deus Ex was awesome.

Judging by my Steam account all I did in 2016 was play Xcom 2 (and swear lot).

Edit - oh Mass Effect. I want to play Mass Effect.

Let's not forget Fire Emblem: Echoes. Releases May 19.

Fates was a disappointment, but I haven't written off the Fire Emblem series just yet. Awakening was still brilliant despite its flaws, and I'll give the devs credit for Fates: They tried to fix the main problem with Awakening. They failed miserably, but I'll still give them credit for trying.

I'm willing to give them a few more chances to get it right again, even if the newest game is a kinda-remake of Fire Emblem: Gaiden.

Which is another trend I like. Updating and re-releasing old games in the series that never made it to the States.

I'm keeping a lookout for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Seems an interesting experiment by Ninja theory and so far looks promising.

I doubt 2017 will be better than 2016 because Dishonored 2 and The Last Guardian happened last year. And Battleborn was a really great game and probably the best MP of this gen so far. Overwatch bored me in less than 2 hours from its small maps and simplistic game modes.

Prey is the main game I'm looking forwards to because Arkane Studios is that good. RiME looks amazing. And I'm very much interested in seeing more about Vampyr. I'm cautiously optimistic for Horizon Zero Dawn and Mass Effect. From videos of Horizon, it seems like the writing and voice acting are pretty rough. For Mass Effect, I hope it doesn't become all open world-y with thousands of quests; I want quality over quantity quests like previous Mass Effects. Hopefully Gravity Rush 2 is something decently good, I still haven't played the 1st one (I have bought it on PS4 during a sale though).

I can't get too excited for most of the games listed as the previous South Park had a bad combat system (standard JRPG-like system) even though it was funny. Rockstar hasn't made a good game since Vice City, plus I hated the 1st RDR so much I couldn't finish it (the gameplay was so bad). I didn't care for the Nioh beta/demo although I might give it another try, the Nier demo had pretty lacking gameplay (I expect more from Platinum) plus none of the characters were interesting (and that was the bigger problem when characters were the best part of the 1st game), God of War hasn't been good since the 1st game, and I don't count remasters as new games.

Another shooter then...

I feel ya, and like what ya like, but FPS all play out the same way to me. I like games with different mechanics, and mechanics that evolve throughout the game. It's very rare that FPS games ever do that.
Arkane's games don't really play like standard FPSs at all, I don't expect Prey to either. The Dishonored games are better sandboxes than just about any typical sandbox game out there, just YouTube search 'StealthGamer Dishonored' and watch just one of his videos. You have true freedom on how to complete any objective and the creativity the games allow for is just insane. Expecting Prey to be a normal FPS is truly doing it a disservice, there's a decent gameplay video out there, you can mimic anything and play as a cup!!!

For me it's probably

Halo Wars 2
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Mass Effect Andromeda
South Park Fractured But Whole
Cuphead
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam
Outlast 2
Friday the 13th
Crash Bandicoot remasters
Crackdown 3

That's what I can remember atleast.

I'm actually kinda interested in Tales of Berseria, which is odd because the last time I played a 'Tales of' game was well over ten years ago and I don't really have much of an interest in either jrpgs or the anime style in general. Yet even so it intrigues me and I'll probably pick it up whenever I first see it on sale.

Other than that however I can't really think of anything coming out this year I'm particularly excited for... no, that's not quite true; There's that one game by the Bastion/Transistor team which I think is due to be released this year, I'm sure that'll be excellent, but they've been drip-feeding info about the game at such a glacial pace it's hard to really get hyped for it or anything.

maybe because no game this year looks better than PREY. i mean its a Cross between Half life and Sytem Shock. 2 of greatest games of all time. plus Arkane is talented developer who yet to make a bad game.

the old prey 2 bounty hunter looked trash that many people praise and new one looks like best game in years. its GOTY this year. Doom of 2017.

This right here is great. Better than great. You can't pay for entertainment this great.
...And now I will eagerly await B-Cell completely missing the point of my comment, just like he did yours, Elvis....

Not surprising in the least really. To him, there is only one true game type and everything else might as well be shovel-ware. At least there is consistency with him (sort of).

Hey again, I guess you like what you like. Hard to really argue with that.

2016 had lots (and lots) of really good games. What it lacked, IMO, was *great* games.
Doom, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, XCom 2, Dark Souls 3, all of them really good.
Some spectacular showings by smaller devs, too, with the likes of Stardew Valley, Superhot (and Superhot VR!), Pony Island, and Salt & Sanctuary.

2017 has a bunch of stuff that I'm looking forward to, especially the 2D and 3D platformers.
Yooka Laylee and Freedom Planet 2 (followup to my 2014 game of the year!) are pretty exciting, and there are a bunch more to come, like Crash Remastered and A Hat In Time. Maybe even The Iconoclasts. And Nioh, South Park, Nier: Automata, Resident Evil 7 (which is already out and reportedly quite fantastic)

Both years look to have good stuff.

Been hearing good things about Tales of Berseria so I'll most likely pick it up some time this month. Will certainly pick up Persona 5 when it comes out in April.

Very excited about Ace Combat 7 and its return to the Strange World universe. Might be the first game I actually get VR for.

Keeping an eye on Horizon Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda. Setting and combat of Horizon seem interesting but I'm concerned about it becoming a slog like most open world games. Loved the original mass effect trilogy but my love of the franchise was diminished over the years and so far the trailers for Andromeda have not quite sold me.

Digimon just came out. Really good if you prefer the "virtual pet" aspect of the franchise.

Anyways I'm waiting for Berserk, Zelda, Bomberman, South Park, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Persona 5 and Yooka Laylee.

I'm excited about Horizon: Zero Dawn, seems like an interesting setting, and the genre is right up my alley. Also interested in Mass Effect, loved the first one the most then it sorta went downhill for me, not sure why. I'm ready to give it a new chance though.
