I'll just make a comparison that will state my point quickly.
Slenderman is scarier than Silent Hill Shattered Memories, but incredibly less compelling.

Aye, depends how many games of its type you played i guess. I can see how people who dont really do horror games may find it scary. Just like i was when i played resi 4 (My first horror - themed game) Which seems pretty tame now XD

Plus i think dead space 1/2 ruined jump-sacres for me. Luckily THAT game has excellant gameplay/ atmosphere to let me forgive its failure of scaring me.

I've seen more than enough footage of the game to understand that it's shallow, poorly done and probably not worth my time.

There's one scare in the whole game, and it's a jump scare. Boring.

Slender? Please. Real scary games are shit like LIMBO.

I couldn't get past the first five minutes in that one.

Oh, and Slender? Don't collect the pages, he kills you. Collect them?
He kills you.

Well, I'm a big wuss when it comes to scary games. I can usually figure out what's coming to get me and when but I still get scared. It's the "SURPRISE!" effect. And in real life, I'm pretty hard to scare. But when I'm playing, it's the opposite; I guess I get immersed.

Anyway, I was curious about it but a lot of things drove me off:

-The rendering. God, Slenderman looks like he's just wearing a white sock on his head. It could be smoother or...better rendered.
-The objective. Collect pages. Okay. Then what? Are these pages gonna save me from Slenderman? Which brings me to...
-The ending. Really? That's it? Okay, then.
-The way you die. What is he doing? Static? So he lives on my TV? Did he kill me? How?

Anyway, I admit it's scary for one reason or another. But...eh.

Scared me twice, didn't care afterwards.

Honestly it just annoys me that something as creepy as the slenderman mythos got boiled down to a "BOO" game.
Yeah, after making me jump once I thought it was a pretty one trick pony.

I'm not exceedingly brave when it comes to scary/atmospheric games, but it needs to have some variety or else you numb to it.

I've only ever watched other people play it, because I can't handle jumpscare games. It's more their reaction that frightens me than the actual game most of the time. Still not going to play it, though. It's the music more than anything.

And predictable jump scare. It would be scarier if there would be the ques, but sometimes the slender isn't there. The game is just messing with you!

I ran trough it and I can swear that mr. Slender cheats! Sometimes I got caught when I had my back against a wall or just when I knew he was in room I just left and I was 3 miles ´South and around a corner. Slender isn't a Weeping angel for crying out loud!

Poor. The entire experience was one prolonged jumpscare. I ran around for a bit, found a few notes, then got jump-scared by slenderman. I then proceeded to mock his atrocious looking model and have never played it again. XD

Seriously tho, I am a one of the imscared master-race, myself. Much better game for this type of thing (short freeware horror). :p

If you want another scary game, I recommend the tablet version of Dead Space. If you thought terrible controls were effective tools for scaring you on a proper game console, imagine that but in order to move you have to put your hands on the screen so you can barely see anything. It is just terrifying.

Try playing it on a phone, much fun to be had when accidentally changing firing modes and failing to reload.

The key to winning at Slender: The Eight Pages is to never look beind you. Ever. Even when your screen does the shrill white noise effect for half a second, don't ever turn around. Also, when your screen begins to go fuzzy, look another direction, any direction, and you'll be just fine.

No, the main gripe I had with Slender was my damn flashlight battery supposedly running out. I'm not sure if that is an actual gameplay mechanic or if my eyes were going blurry from staring at the screen without blinking for an extended period of time. To this day I still haven't found all the pages. I swear they are randomized some times, and other times they aren't.

I'm not. When I first found the giant spider, I had to stop and uninstall the game.

Slenderman... more like... Slendafoot! Am I right? ... it's... it's a Homestar Runner reference? Anyone... No one? Gah.. nevermind....
Oh, I doubt it. I dwove.

Never played Slender but from what I've heard of it, it sounds like a big jumpscare. Amnesia, though... I've played that, and my God is it satisfying to get all the way to the end with all the lights turned off.

The only horror game I have ever been scared by was Amnesia and even that required me to play it at midnight when my reflexes were dulled and I was tired. I am easily startled but that doesn't make me scared, it just ticks me off.

Im starting to wonder if i've lost my soul or something :/ All these "good" horror games (slender, amnesia etc) Just raise a meh from me. Sure jump scares get you every time but you cant really help that. Nothing that stays with you after you turn the game off.
Play "The 4th Wall"

-- As far as Slender...I dunno. It didn't really affect me. Yeah, jump scares, but eh.

I found playing through Amnesia and Justine was more sinister. At least those had entertainment to go along with its scares.
