You'll be playing again in no time. You probably are, right now.

Giving up "hardcore gaming" is like becoming less of a "hardcore serial killer."

Dudez, I'm really cutting back, I swear. Naaaaaaaarrrr.
aha, yes, but without any money to actually get a gaming device of any kind, its kinda difficult to start playing again :p

If I DO get any money, I'll just spend it on juggling equipment ^^

Good for you, you should just be a casual gamer.
I'm a casual gamer, and I still have fun playing games, and thats what games are all about, ya know?
yep, thats exactly what I intend to do :)
Good. Work on those circus skills you talked about. I've always wanted to juggle.

circus skills, my greatest hobby
This has me curious like a child. Please explain. I HAVE TO KNOW.
well, I like to do a lot of circus-based stuff, mainly diabolo (as well as devil sticks, juggling balls, clubs, and a little poi/staff). I like to think I'm not bad at it ^^

a website called diabolo.ca (another forum safe-haven like The Escapist, except EVERYTHING is about diabolo... no off-topic stuff!) does a collaboration video of diaboloists from across the world every year... I'm hoping to contribute to that video this year with some of my own diaboloing :) If you want add me as a friend on here and I'll send you a link to the video once it is complete around November-ish :p (just incase you don't know what a diabolo is, here is the 2007 version [http://juggling.tv/video/682/diaboloca-collaboration-video-2007] and 2008 version [http://juggling.tv/video/1619/diaboloca-collaboration-video-2008] of the collaboration video's ^^)

Best of luck, gaming really can be addictive.

If you have fun with it though, i'd still play casually.

The only casual game I can recommend at the moment is Plants vs. Zombies. Brilliant little game. :p

As long as you don't get a Wii, you have made a good decision.
Don't Listen to this guy. Get a Wii, as there aren't any hardcore games on it and you would only play it when you have absolutely nothing else left to do. Also, you won't be able to spend countless hours on it cause you will get boredom-seizures if you do.

Good for you mate, lifes like that we grow and move on and no your not the firs/only non "gamer" here either played about 5 hours this entire week max if that just not as fun as it used to be for me. Decided to get off my arse and started going to the gym again already feeling the health benefits and endorphin rushes again why did I ever drop it. Drawing more, filled out my porfolio by massive amounts done more these last two months than my the last 4 years combined, learned how to use photoshop/digital art so much you realise gaming held you back from doing.

I stopped gaming once as well. it was not because I myself had a problem, but I realized that everyone I interacted with on a daily basis seemed to have one, causing me to quit gaming to make a point. I had chosen to quit for a month. It really wasn't that hard, but caused me to have a wider collection of hobbies while the protest lasted. You can definitely expect to be more productive.

I'm actually planning on going casual myself. I'm just now starting college so money is a bit tight. I don't have much time due to my schedule, but I love gaming, so I could never completely stop.

Yep, you heard me. I'm no longer going to be playing games like the rest of you fine folk anymore.

Let me explain. A few days ago, my PS3 died on me - you might have seen me rant about it on the forums a little bit. Well, I've been thinking about the options available to me since then - do I simply replace it for a hefty £140 and deal with it? Do I instead buy a 360 for a much bigger price tag? Or, as I've decided, do I simply quit gaming all together?
*snip*
Wait, since when is the PS3 less expensive than the 360?

Did I miss the news about a gigantic price drop or something?

I have gaming phases it seems, some weeks I can play puwards of 40 hours and some I won't touch my xbox.

Its the week I barely touch it I have the most fun, yet I can't stay away. Mad huh?

Good move my friend and good luck to you out there in the real world.

Its costs less to get a console repaired than to buy a whole new one I hear...

Also, I dont really buy the whole 'this is the last safe haven from trolls' bs about this forum. I have seen trolls, been trolled, and even trolled maybe once or twice out of rage. This forum is also horribly biased and occasionally ignorant, with a dash of elitism. Oh shit... people who run this forum might read this and get pissed umm... ahh...

I love this place!

I don't get why people claim to be "addicted to gaming" it just doesn't make sense. People play games because they're fun, not because they're dependent on them. If given the opportunity, I would bet that in a very small amount of time you will realize how boring life is without videogames. Soon enough not you'll buy that xbox 360.

Ehm.......you think i'm a troll?

They were honest questions, but I suppose it could be mistaken for sarcasm to be fair.
That was bad wording on my part I suppose. =]

But in my defence he never actually said anything about repairs....he used the word 'replace', which to me means throw out the old one and get a new one.

Yeah, you're definitely not the first or only non-gamer here.

As a matter of fact, I'm headed that way as well.

Oh, gaming...how I wish you were fun instead of just something to do.
Aw guys, come on, gaming is still fun!

Maybe you've become jaded with all the shitty games being released this year but nothing beats the buzz when you find a real gem and immerse yourself in it.

The rest of the year looks to be picking up a bit too... Borderlands, Wet, Brutal Legend, Mass Effect 2, Rage, Dragon Age, MW2, A new Fallout next year...

Things are looking up.

Then again I am on a temporary burst of ultra happy optimism having just gotten the Mile High Club achievment for the first time, so you should probably just ignore me for the next hour or so...
