The Descent. I made the terrible mistake of watching it on my own, in the dark, in an empty house.

I couldn't watch it all the way through, and didn't even try to sleep that night.

(For those of you that don't know, the Descent is a movie about a group of women who take a trip through an unexplored cave and run afoul of a pack carnivorous subterranean cave-dwellers.)

I cant think of any movies that keep me awake all night. I can name thousands that keep me up for a little longer then normal just thinking about them for various reasons.

The Grifter. I mean...Jesus Christ Almighty. I saw it like, two weeks ago, and I've gotten maybe seven hours of sleep since.

Oh, and The Empty Child also did a nasty on me some years ago when it first aired in the states.

My imagination is way too overactive. Instead of thinking of a monster under my bed (because there was no underside), I thought that their was a bee's nest at the end of my bed, which then evolved into a murderer at my door.

So obviously, I get scared by pretty much any film or game that has a frightening aspect to it. I was even terrified by Orphan (2008), beat that!

Blink

The very episode you, OP, watched.

Yeah, I can speak for a lot of people when I say that.
That episode is brilliantly excecuted! Didn't keep me from sleeping though.

What movies/shows have kept you from sleeping?

Oh! I am about half way through 2005 season of Dr. Who. Everone talks about the weeping angels. Is it that good? No spoilers please!

For me it was Ruby Quest. For those who dont know it is a Prety good image board based story that was made in 4-Chan. Heres a link to the whole website so you can read it if you want:http://evilcorporation.com.br/rubyquest/

Anyway the thing that caused my Nightmares was this lovely animated picture

http://evilcorporation.com.br/rubyquest/scene-802.html.

Kept having nightmares of that freaky bastard sitting on my chest.

The original season of the X Files did it to me a couple times. That and the excorcist. I cannot watch the violent cross rape scene and sleep soundly.

i watched paranormal activity at midnight by myself, wasn't a fun night afterwards. Every creak stopped me from going to sleep for another 30 mins or so

Damn, I loved Blink. The paranoia shot at the end was pure gold too.
But ignore me, I have a very odd "fear" response.

Something I can say probably freaks most people out seriously the first time they watch it though:
Marble Hornets.

I watched it a while ago and I lost some sleep over that, but after Entry 24 (I think) it got boring, and I can rewatch the episodes and simply admire the camera techniques and cleverness.
Entry 26 was a lovely return to form though, because it actually had Slender Man in after quite a while of nothing particularly interesting.
Your avatar is amazing..
I spent more time watching that avatar than reading this thread.

OT: I agree with Marble Hornets. The first time I watched it (on a blustery cold, dark, quiet stormy autumn day) I was pretty damn freaked out. Even though I knew it was an ARG.

I watched The Human Centipede trailer. Yep. Go look it up if you haven't seen it - I guarantee you will not shut your eyes for three weeks without seeing that thing writhing over and over behind your eyelids.
Watched the film, wasnt scared or disturbed for the entirety of it, just seemed in poor taste, all of it...
I very much suspect that if I saw the whole film it would wipe away the creepy trailer completely. I can't imagine seeing 2 hours of it and it still being disturbing. But 5 minutes? Yeah, it definitely made me wish I could un-watch it.
i watched this..

i still cant get a hard-on, 'cos i keep thinking about it when i do T.T

this is gonna keep me up

I hate you -.-",

i have a test tomorrow! T~T

I was reading Harry Potter 4 just when it came out (I was seriously young). That did not go down well. I also watched Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark when I was about 8. The melting scene stuck in my head for YEARS! Then I watched it again and was fine.

IT used to scare me. Not that it took much...

I have to watch that Blink episode. Sound pretty overestimated.

Well, awhile back, I was in some forum or another that dealt with just this issue...or perhaps it was something to do with mind-fuckkery, i can't quite remember. What I DO remember is users trying to outdo each other regarding the picture that required the most brain-bleach before sleep could resume. I scrolled through the entries, yawning as I went, until I saw a user post a link emblazoned with the words "<a href=http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/91/13253618.jpg>This picture, this picture, THIS GODDAMN PICTURE!"

So naturally I clicked it.

I proceeded to try my best to erase the better part of the past hour from my brain through liberal doses of <a href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUaKxFjlOpw>Harmony and <a href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLsJyfN0ICU>Eyepatches, unsuccessfully, of course.

Click at your own risk.

Oh, now I remember. It was the TV tropes comment section of Higurashi...click the link above to see the pic ;P

Lol, I love how this entire thread and those like it are pretty much personifications of '...I know I shouldn't...but it can't be THAT bad"
