$400 US isn't that much, I'm sure you can easily get a loan for that amount. I mean, I know you'll have to pay it back eventually, at fairly high interest, but hey, it's better than losing the house right?
What he said.

400$ could be given as a loan, or, who knows, maybe you could get a job at McDonald's to help pay for it?

[small]I'm not very good with relationships, so I don't know...... :D[/small]

Well I could apply at my local grocery store, but I doubt they'd hire inexperienced me over professional bag boys who have diplomass in elite bagging technique.
Oh. Well I'm sorry to hear about that.

If you don't mind me asking, what would you say your social class is?

I don't mind I would say lower middle class.
Huh.... Well, if your mom's credit is any good I'm sure she could get a loan, or you could pawn some old stuff you don't use any more.

If your thinking of trying to get a job, I would try SnagAJob.com
That's the site I'm using, I'm trying to get a job for the summer.

I really hope things work out for you guys.

Thanks.

Don't you have any relatives or friends that can help?

If your assessment is true then you'll probably need a good lawyer.

I'm not from the US and I don't know how things work over there so the only advice I can give you is to be patient. I've been through some crazy shit myself and I've been patient...at least it helped me keep my sanity.

Good luck.

EDIT
$400 is an awfully small amount though. Here in Greece one has to own a five digit number for the bank to go after her/his house. Maybe you're mistaken after all?

Well the I heard $400 about 2-3 months ago so I don't know.

You should probably keep quiet for a while on financial issues for a while... its not like Greece have some of the worst financial problems in the world or anything...

OT:
You should be able to get a loan for that amount. Given that you are 14 it might be time to get a job and help your mum out if she is having trouble. Although I'm not sure what the legal working age is there.

The community idea is an excellent one if you live in a decent neighborhood. Here a woman was going to be evicted over a much larger amount, although she hadn't worked in three years and was driving around a 2009 car. Still, she cried to the news and got her sob story out there, and the community came together and paid off the past balance, and enough for a future balance.

If you attend a church you can talk to your pastor/priest about a fundraiser. they would probably make it happen. If your american you cant legally work anywhere. you could work for yourself though; cutting grass that kind of stuff.

Sorry to hear that, I'm used to that kind of situation. But you might want to think about contacting the news anyway. Morals aside, single mother with three kids being evicted over a sum of $400(which as has been pointed out isn't that much, really) could tug at the heartstrings of people and help y'all out.

OP - I work in the finance industry and I hope your mother is looking into options such as loan modification. She may qualify for a lowered interest rate, a lower payment and even (possibly) a principal reduction if she is far underwater in the home. She needs to contact the lender that holds the mortgage and see if there is any way to qualify for some assisstance.

Of course she may be too far gone to qualify at this point but I really can't imagine anyone foreclosing over $400. There are people behind by thousands who have qualified.

Also, I know your parents are seperated but would your dad be willing to help? I would do it to keep my kids in a home if I had to.

My dad is pretty much out of the picture. He's not dead or in jail, just out of the picture.

Hello escapists I am very depressed right now, I am 14 years old with a 12 and 8 year old sister and brother, respectively, I was minding my business when 3 loud knocks sounded on my door. An obese legal man stood there and was looking for my dad, since my parents are seperated I called my mother over. About 3 minutes later he handed her documentation of the foreclosure. Now I ask you my friends do you have any useful advice, that might give me hope?
With the economy as it is, no one should be living in a single-working-adult household.

1)Have your grandparents move in, or vice versa. Their retirement, if not going solely into perscription drugs, will help get the bills paid.
2)Tell your mom to find a new husband with a decent job as soon as possible.
3)Get a part-time job. 14 year olds are old enough to work in some places. Your mom will addore you forever for being so responsible & helpful.
4)Let a roommate move in. His/her rent will help with house payments.
5)Move into a rental house; they're cheaper & easier to move out of than self-owned houses.

Not that it's your responsibility to help your mother, but if you are worried, and do wish to help, applying for a job is a good step. But I gotta say, the moment you say you don't have a chance, you won't have a chance. You'll always fail if you never try.

From the sounds of it, $400 seems a bit low, so perhaps the best thing would be to actually talk to you mom, and learn exactly what's happening. Worrying about what will happen, based on what you've partially seen, or overheard isn't going to do you any good.

But all in all, I gotta say, this isn't really your situation to deal with, you're fourteen. Your mother should be able to deal with the situation financially, whether it's through a loan, extra shifts, support from family etc. Really, the best thing you could do is offer emotional support to your mother and siblings.

Best of luck, I hope your family manages to find a solution.

Am I the only one that sees something off about this?

He lives in a community with lawn care service and the big, bad bank is taking his house for $400? He doesn't want to ride 3 miles to go to work, even if it meant helping keep a roof over his head. I have no sympathy here. At least you have a bike to ride to work.

I don't know you, nor do I know anything about you. You could very well be telling the truth. Something about this entire thread just seems...odd.

Just a tad, banks foreclose on a home for being a few months behind not half a payment.

My family too is in financial crisis.

My mother is fixing everything she can so she can get more money for selling unless we pull something out of our asses by next spring.
