I know you may have skipped over games or been told something was horrible by people or reviews, and you go and take a look at it...and it doesn't look really that bad.

So this thread is about what "bad" games have you seen, and really haven't looked that bad, or you tried one of the "bad" games and found it actually pretty good or excellent.


My own would be Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. From what I've heard, it's crap. All of the reviews are mostly bad, it has bad camera angles, many loads and etc....But I really want to try it out, it looks interesting, it nostalgia grabs for some parts, there have been bad cameras in all Sonic games but they arent that bad, and really, the one thing that people complain about..

About the whole game is pointless because it does a whole huge time reverse at the end

..really has no effect on me. The only problem is that I don't have a PS3 or a 360 to try it out.

Call of Duty: World at War

I think Treyarch get way too much shit from the community, and I loved the whole campaign in the game - found it exhilarating and fun.

The multi would have been great were it not for the MP40 and annoying announcers.

I like Dynasty Warriors.
People who talk about it don't.
Heard bad things about last Dynasty Warriors game.
Tried it.
Loved it.

Also, I rented said Sonic game, it is not good.

The loading times alone are more than a pain.
I found myself somehow being shot off of the loop-de-loops at times.
The loading times.
Story is... well I barely paid attention to the Story.
the first boss battle as Sonic was a major pain (As you have to get it to hit a wall at the perfect degree, or it will just start running alongside the wall) (Oh, and you fight the smae Boss as the other characters as well, yay...)
And the loading times.

If you want to try it, by all means do, I' just telling you what I found from playing the game.

People gave this game a bunch of crap because it wasn't what they wanted. I love it. It's all that matters.

A game called Boiling Point by Atari. I heard that it was all one big waste of money so i waited for the price to drop. Bought it on sale for like 10 bucks and enjoyed it alot. I love sandbox games and this one was that and then some. Very nice graphics, nice choice of weapons, nice choice of vehicles...bad plot but w/e i liked killing drug dealers lol.

I loved Alpha Protocol. Sure it's no Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory in terms of stealth, or Counter-Strike in terms of being a shooter. But dammit the dialogue was good (if Michael was a bit of a dick) and the story was too. Combat wasn't horrible. It just tried too hard.

Alpha Protocol.

Especially after reading the destructoid and the escapist reviews, you'd think the game was a nigh-unplayable mess of bugs and unbalance. It's really one of the most innovative games I've played in a long time, especially in terms of consequences for your actions in the game. I also never ran into a serious bug or found any part of the game to be cheap or too difficult. I'm really quite mystified.

I love Dynasty Warriors as well, though I loved it even before I saw any review for them.

And I'm pretty sure I could handle it. I've seen the LP of it, while the loading times could get annoying they arent that incredibly long to get irritating... the only problem I see with it is that it is hard..most of, if not all Sega/Sonic games or difficult.

Tons of people hated Shadow the Hedgehog, I loved that game. I'm pretty sure Sonic 06 couldn't break me.

on the question, heard alot of people on the fence about singularity, but it looks pretty kickass.
