Hello again everyone. The Soul-Seeking puppy demands another thread.

I believe that the Escapist's community has an amazing impact on what it is as a whole. Compliments too, since it's a great place to visit and chat to people. Almost like an intergalactic pub.

So, My question this time around is:
How much do you think you impact the escapist as a user, and if you were able to change one thing for the better, what would it be?

And by heck, I'm lookin' forwards to those interesting responses.

Edit 1: Y'dont have to be modest, I won't judge'ye!

I think my biggest impact is my Halo fandom and frequency to post in Halo-related threads. Plus I was credited by a few people as a good reviewer so I guess there's that too.
Also of course I am known as the badass alien.

Also I agree with Furburt that we need to lose the elitism. A little bit is okay and having sophisticated and well thought out conversations should be fine but we shouldn't need to constantly draw attention to that fact.

If Furburt says he has no impact, my impact is most definitely totally absent.

There's nothing really I'd change. The community is decent, the content is great. Maybe change the color. Red would be three times faster.

I don't think I make much of an impact here.

If I could change one thing it would be to get rid of the PC elitism.

But... we are!

OT: Not at all, and I'd have a 'Ban' button that I was in charge of that I could use should anyone dare badmouth Mafia or say Mafia 2 looks bad in some way.

Oh, in light of that I might have made some impact as being the guy that wanks himself silly (metaphorically, rarely literally) over Mafia.

I very occasionally spark a little bit of discussion with some fellow users so...basically I'm the same as everyone else. There was one other user who like, worshipped me though. I won't name him for embarrassment reasons.

I don't think I particularly impact the Escapist. I mean, I'm reasonably well known, but that doesn't mean much. If I wasn't here, it'd be pretty much the same. So not much.

As for what to change, get rid of the elitism. Just the general "We're better than everyone else" attitude expressed by some members. That needs to go.

I do agree with your point of removing elitism. It's human nature I believe. Maybe we can't be rid of it completely, but we can certainly reduce it.

I suppose being well known is quite a hassle. I can hardly stand attention from my puppy.

I occasionally make a tiny ripple in the forums, but otherwise I don't impact this site much by myself.

I would make two (2) changes. Change number one (1) would be to add two more video series's. An animated one to make up for the loss of Apoc Lane and Game Dogs (Doraleous alone isn't enough) and a live action one to make up for the loss of Doomsday and Brawl (Quest and Axe alone aren't enough). Change two (2) would be to make one of the new shows air on Tuesdays. I love the new issues but Tuesdays need a video as well.

I impact just as much as one of those old bitter and possibly insane hoboe's or Grampas. I don't impact much but I do entertain some people that watch with my down right fuked up antics.

My Impact? Erm... somewhere between none and alot. Honestly, I don't do much.

You know... I'd change it so that everyone on the Escapist get's a hug from the staff. You know, that would be so nice. Kinda like if we had puppies for a mascot. Oh wait we have ponies, which are like, 8 puppies in one. Sweeeeeet!

Calumon: Do people even know me?

I can state this without stutter, but I say fandom of any time is no problem at all, So we're all happy-chappies here.

Most reviewers I run into write really long text walls, I have trouble reading naturally. So generally I get dissapointed.

Good thing I have Microsoft Sam.

None. I always remember what Calumon says but never Jack. In fact, I wouldn't mind having a Calumon.

Well, I believe most people has seen and remembered my avatar, thus recognizing who I am when I post.

"Oww yeah, that's the guy with that crazy blood-thirsty seal. I love it xD"

... And that's about it I suppose. Not into any sort of groups so I am hardly familiar with anyone.
That's as much impact as I probably do, really.

I think everyone knows the two'er'yer.
Love it or hate it really. But everyone together makes a community if they like it or not.

Hardly. If the users were ever listened to then I am pretty sure that March Mayhem would have been shitcanned a long time ago.
Not to mention that horrible and honestly, quite fucking insulting D&D show.

But yeah, as already mentioned I would kill off the elitism and totally unfoundered ego most of the community has.
I would also fix the mod staff.
Fix the mod-staff?
I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I don't suppose we can tune Mr.Funk up with a spanner of some sort.

Do I impact this place? I doubt it. I believe I briefly managed to annoy a few people by inadvisedly forming a user group, but everyone's forgotten about that by now...

As for what I'd change, I'd like some way of cutting down on the number of people who bash games essentially because they're popular (CoD series, Halo, etc...) or because they're 'casual' (Guitar Hero, everything by popcap, the entire wii library, etc...). So basically the elitism, yeah.
