Escapists, have you ever felt like you were born in the wrong time/place?

Now, just to get clarify myself, I meant born in the wrong era of history/wrong nation.

Personally, I don't, but I feel like my brother was. Living in the inner city, my brother was obviously born to be a warrior of some kind. I'd like to think he would've made a great samurai; he has a natural knack for swords, particularly the katana, as well as martial arts. Even though he spends most of his day playing Warcraft 3, he can stretch his limbs farther and punch stronger than I, who clearly gets more exercise than him (seriously, it's like his muscle mass ferments; the longer he stays inactive, the stronger he gets).

Not really. I feel the environnement in which I grew up was the right one, and the one I'm in now is also pretty fitting. If I had to choose another era, I'd definitely go for the future, to see what other miracles technology brings.

No, I love the way I live in terms of technology. I think I was born at just the right time.

I like this era of technology, it seems just right. The past was a bit out of my tastes.

And I love Canada, I am glad to be from here. I would say I was born in the right time and place.

Now there are times when I stumble in to a bad situation being in the wrong place at teh wrong time but that's for a different thread.

We are all, well most of us, of course partial to the times we live in, although I really wouldn't have minded to live in the next great age of exploration. The Final Frontier and all that, you know? The sea just doesn't cut it for me.

Not really, considering how much influence various works of art and fiction written in 20th century had on me, especially the second half of 20th century. 60s, 70s, 80s, and so on... But then again, I like modern technology and it's very important to me. And I enjoy the comparably awesome freedoms we get today when it comes to religion, speech, and a lot of other things.

Although Ancient Greece/Rome or, well, 80s would probably end up decent alternatives. I could be a philosopher in Ancient Greece and end up living in a barrel on the street, or I could be starting a shitty metal band in the 80s when it was still new and get really smashed, but then again both of these things I can do today.

But then again, people rarely understand how things really were "back in the day". People tend to have overly romanticized view about times they never witnessed, and that applies to me as much as to anyone else.

I wish I was born just several years later or several years before.

Being born in the eighties would be totally awesome.

Being born later would mean I would probably not have ended up in the bad relationship I'm in now.

I listen to music that is largely completely outdated. I have jazz record from the 1930's and I have a love for the atmosphere in that era be it the sophisticated clubs of the time or the charm of the Vaudeville stars and so it's kind of wierd living among people who listen to hip hop and such.

i often feel i should have been born in the late 70s so i could have gone through the 90s as a teenager rather than the late naughties/now
i just love baggy clothes, 90s slang and that period were all angst was converted to grunge or punk

growing up in the 60s would've been sweet as well, revolution, free love, hippies

i know someone who shouldve been born in the 1700s as well though

I should have been born in the 70's my musical taste is out of date with people of my generation then again, I'm grateful I was born when I was with Pokémon and the sort. And I could have been born in Canada but I'm glad I'm English.
