Bloodmoon was incredible, and it is a real shame that there aren't more werewolves in video games. They would have been perfect in Oblivion (thank you mods though), so I think that games of that nature could easily incorporate them as NPCs hiding amongst the populace or even allowing you as the player to contract lycanthropy.

As for a werewolf focused game, I think it could most certainly be done. Much of it boils down to narrowing down the "type" of werewolf (what myths are true in the game along with any newly imagined werewolf traits), the setting (Fantasy/Middle Ages, Present Day, near-Future), and the general conflict. Conflicts could involve you in a clan of other werewolves fighting another clan or different faction entirely, a lone wolf out for survival while hiding during the day, or all sorts of varied and combined elements.

Considering the complaints of games not being innovative enough, I think that it's high time we see a great werewolf game sink its fangs into the neck of the status quo.

I agree entirely.

I don't know the name, but it was a Japanese made WWII turn based strategy game where the Nazis were using vampires, so the British forces start using werewolves. I'm not making this up.
If someone knows the name of this game, I'll be a happy panda.
Think I know the game you're talking about. Operation Darkness, great idea, horrible horrible execution. Nazi vampires fighting Allied werewolves, you take on zombies, tanks, and dragons as well, plus, you've got a Frankenstein monster with you and some other creatures like that. Whole thing falls apart very quickly as you play though.

Anyway, back to the original topic there.

How about an FPS style game where werewolves can kind of move about a bit like the aliens from Alien Vs Predator. I know it doesn't exactly fit in with the legends, but it's been done enough in modern media that it should fly. Well, even going along those lines, you could make a Left 4 Dead style game where you play as humans fending off werewolf hordes. Or perhaps a DMC style game would also work. Play as a badass werewolf guy who takes on...eh, vampires and probably other denizens of the night, maybe have the werewolf thing work like the demon awakening mechanic from the DMC games, where you go from being awesome human guy to superpowered werewolf guy for brief stints.

As for actual werewolf games, well, the only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned was that Castlevania that they made for the N64, the one that was basically like a greatest hits style version of the first one that they made for the N64.

*Edit* Oh wait, the N64 one was Legacy of Darkness, WOPR beat me to it.

castlevania 64: legacy of darkness was the only game i played that had SOME werewolf elements. push a button, become superpowered werewolf, kick-ass, push button again, change back into normal form. simple and fun as hell.

yes, we could use some werewolf games now that i think about it.

I remember hearing something about a WoD-themed werewolf game like ten years ago. Heart of Gaia, I think? No idea what happened to that...

EDIT: Apparently it was cancelled. Pity, that.

...meh. Werewolves doesn't seem like such a great idea to me. Anyway, how would the game work? Would you play as a werewolf? What would you do other than eat people? Would you kill werewolves? Where would there be variation. Anyway, it would probably just attract Twilight fans.

it seems the biggist hang up would be the story in a werewolf game. if anything we could go the prototype route and just kill veryone for the sake of killing
