This is true. Once they have no attention, they'll stop. They pretty much say in interviews that it's precisely because people try to stop them that they continue.Chefodeath said:I've said it before, I'll say it again. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS
honestly op, its shit like your letter that Fred Phelps whacks off to at night.
But wouldn't that just make everyone look bad? We have to play ourselves as better, more sophisticated. Like Jesus said: If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Count my hand in... this is happening only a few hours from where I live... Oh how I would love to be able to drive up there and knock them across the head with their protest signs. It really is disgusting what these people do.Naheal said:They crave attention. IRL trolls are being trolls.
Hey, I have an idea that I'd like to put to a vote to the Christians on this site. All in favor of removing the WBC as an association of Christianity, may I see your hands?
That wouldn't work. Everyone and everything within hearing range would be driven completely insane. Not to mention the resulting insanity would only make the Westboro folks even worse trolls than they already are.dsmops2003 said:We need to assault the protesters with vuvuzelas.
That was so beautifully poetic. Your words must be archived, to be learned and understood for generations.RebellionXXI said:For a brief instant, disregarding the entire context of this article, at the barest mention of the WBC, my mind was filled with a rage that I have not felt since being harassed by bullies in Middle School.
That is a fury (an impotent fury, but fury nonetheless) that would deafen one to the dying screams of a thousand burning infants.
Shortly thereafter, a strange calm came over me. A calm which I might liken to wondering what it must be like to be a tree. A tree is a living thing, to be sure, but its experience (if it even has such a thing) is so alien to my own that when I ask my subconscious mind what a tree might be thinking all that comes back is silence.
That is why I felt nothing when I stopped to read the article. The WBC and its members form a spiteful collective entity whose hatred is so otherworldly that I cannot possibly imagine the madness that must go on inside their heads.
They are no longer an offense to me. They are merely a curiosity, like a rock formation by the side of the road in the shape of a hand throwing up the middle finger. Something that one might stop and gawk at in amazement for a few moments, but is ultimately of little consequence.
But if you think about it, it would just mean they got to you enough to think it was okay to do it to them. It's not right, but if avoiding them is the appropriate thing to do, than the appropriate thing to do is to avoid Phelps's Funeral service and say nothing to him, his family, or anybody else.David_G said:Because not your personal army.BioHazardMan said:Why has 4chan not crashed their site yet?

Amen. These dicks give Christians a bad name, and rep. my good friends brother died in Iraq 2 years ago and they were there with their stupid little signs and were shouting shit like "god killed your son because the U.S. Government allows fags in the Military"Naheal said:They crave attention. HA! I am, for all intents and purposes, a Christian fundamentalist (and I take a good deal of crap for it), and I don't recognize their motivations at all. I tend to go for exact definition from the Bible as well, but they can't even claim that!Aulleas123 said:Yeah, most Christians see them as the Al Queda of our religion. To the WBC, thanks for making it even harder to be a practicing Christian.
Who gives? A martyr is only a martyr as long as there are people around to remember. As the numbers in this cult dwindle, they will eventually be forgotten by history, as they should. Being forgotten is "final death" to any twisted belief.purgetheweak said:Injuring / killing Mr. Phelps would only turn him into a martyr.. And that's the last thing any of us wants.
Hell, I'm Gnostic and, as open as we are to alternate interpretations, these guys are making claims that have no basis in anything other than insane troll logic. They're pretty much the only group that will piss me off simply by mention of their name.lacktheknack said:HA! Think about it. That would be a chance to show them how WE feel every time they protest a soldier's funeral or something along those lines. If they say that we're no better than them, then that's just a confession that they were "bad" to begin with.Eumersian said:But wouldn't that just make everyone look bad? We would be the better people by not letting their actions cause us to act in revenge. Like it's been said, they're just trolls. Counter trolling is alright to an extent, but reaching their level would just be reaching a new low. Just let them do what they do and just take it, to show our strength. We will deserve a place in heaven after that.
Maybe it would be fun?
