i am a christian and i and every other major church and pastor throughly denounce this church, these people are not representitive of the body of christ. there is no reason justify what these hate mongering nutcases do. i do believe homosexuality is a sin because god says that it is in the bible, but i do not hate gay people because we as christians are called to hate the sin and love the sinner.

For a brief instant, disregarding the entire context of this article, at the barest mention of the WBC, my mind was filled with a rage that I have not felt since being harassed by bullies in Middle School.

That is a fury (an impotent fury, but fury nonetheless) that would deafen one to the dying screams of a thousand burning infants.

Shortly thereafter, a strange calm came over me. A calm which I might liken to wondering what it must be like to be a tree. A tree is a living thing, to be sure, but its experience (if it even has such a thing) is so alien to my own that when I ask my subconscious mind what a tree might be thinking all that comes back is silence.

That is why I felt nothing when I stopped to read the article. The WBC and its members form a spiteful collective entity whose hatred is so otherworldly that I cannot possibly imagine the madness that must go on inside their heads.

They are no longer an offense to me. They are merely a curiosity, like a rock formation by the side of the road in the shape of a hand throwing up the middle finger. Something that one might stop and gawk at in amazement for a few moments, but is ultimately of little consequence.

That was so beautifully poetic. Your words must be archived, to be learned and understood for generations.

I can't really tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you are, I don't blame you. Reading that post again I do sound like a pompous douchebag who's trying too hard.

Regardless, I think we can all agree that there's no point to getting upset at the WBC's shenanigans at this point. They're gonna do what they do, and they have the right, so we might as well just ignore them.

I was in tears when I finished reading this because I was so pissed. So, I submit an open letter to the Westboro Baptist Cult:

Congratulations. Your actions have caused more damage to the image of Christianity than the thrice-cursed Inquisition. I am shamed that I even share a species with you, let alone a religion. But that's not quite true, is it? None of you are Christians. Your hate-filled interpretations and blatant contradictions are simply a perversion of my closely held faith. I can practically smell the white-out that's covering most of your Bibles. You are not crusaders. You are not visionaries. You are not prophets. You're a religious 4chan. And of course you should distance yourself from the WBC, but there are two ways of doing so:
